A man was recently shot and killed by authorities along interstate 70 in Colorado. Briana Fritze struggled with drug addiction and alcohol intake. Fritze was stopped after a police chase, he threatened officers to kill himself with a handgun once confronted. Moments later deputies shot Brian Fritze since he held a dangerous weapon. Though the story comes off mournful, his father, Melvin Fritze tells authorities it was probably a release for Brian. Only doing the job he could never do. After multiple times in prison, Brian did not want to go back behind bars, his father explains. Drugs and Alcohol got the best of him. Both the unidentified deputies went on paid administration leave after the incident.

This relates back to APUSH when we tie it back to the Progressive Era and 18th amendment. The  U.S noticed very early that alcohol was more than just a drink, but a bittersweet substance that could take advantage of anyone who came in its way. The passing laws for no alcohol shows the efforts the U.S tried to accomplish in order to make America a safer community for citizens.
