Psy: I'm 'Ending' 'Gangnam Style' Tonight - Jonas Portillo

It's arguably the biggest song of 2012, but the reign of "Gangnam Style" is coming to a close. Psy told Mtv that he will be "ending" his smash hit tonight during Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, capping a whirlwind year for the K-pop star, whose worldwide breakthrough came in the form of the signature pony dance in the "Gangnam Style" video. "Being in Times Square on New Year's Eve is already special – it's the biggest stage in the universe – plus it's my birthday, so, with all that, it may be the ending of 'Gangnam Style,'" said Psy. "I mean, what better way to do it? It's my biggest and most meaningful birthday." While Psy doesn't plan on completely doing away with his most popular song, he's anxious to follow up the hit with another. "The song became too popular, and so you start to have some concern about its life period," he said. "I'm really working hard on a new single right now, and I'm not saying ['Gangnam'] is ending on Dick Clark — I still have a lot of invitations to perform it . . . I'll be in Paris, and in February I got invited to perform in China, and I've still got to do promo. So let me say that in America I need a new single because 'Gangnam Style' got too popular, so I've got to write a new single."

Man Pleads Guilty to Burning of Ohio Mosque- Taiina Ayala

In Toledo, Ohio, Randy Linn, former Marine,  admitted Wednesday that he broke into a mosque and set fire to a prayer rug because he wanted revenge for the killings of American troops overseas.
He pleaded guilty to hate crime charges, saying he'd become enraged after seeing images of wounded soldiers in the news.
"Every day you turn on the TV, you see Muslims trying to kill Americans," said Linn, a truck driver from Indiana.
When asked by a federal judge whether he thought all Muslims are terrorists, he answered: "I'd say most of them are." He estimated that he had drunk 45 beers over several hours before he decided to drive to Ohio. No one was hurt.

These are the kind of things that START wars! You're "fellow American troops" Mr. Linn, are out there getting killed because of events no different from the one you just took a part in yourself. So if you should be mad at anyone, be mad at yourself. These kind of things enfuriate me. There is no reason to do this. That is someone's RELIGION. Someone's LIFE. Those mosques are supposed to be safe. Havens for people who worship there peacefully. And he just burnt it down?? RIDICULOUS! "Every day you see Muslims killing Americans?" Every day you see Americans killing Americans! "Most Muslims are terrorists?" This man is ridiculous. I mean every one has a right to their own opinion, but you DO NOT have the right to go burn down anything you don't agree with. Goodness! And the fact that he was drunk out of his mind didn't help things at all. I mean, he drove a whole 2 hours to go burn down this mosque. He should consider himself lucky that he all he wlaked away with is 20 years in prison. He was drunk driving, he could've killed himself! It was very fortunate that no one was physically hurt. They say ignorance is bliss, but not in this case! Ignorance is just plain ignorance.

Newtown, Connecticut- Jorge Olvera

On December 14th 2012 twenty children and six staff members were murdered by a senseless man. I know everyone has heard about this but I just wanted a way to vent out my emotions. I hate this man... I would die on the inside if something ever happened to my siblings. I don't even want to know what was going on through his head when he did this. He didn't deserve to die. I hope God doesn't show you any mercy at all. You don't kill children, we are not animals! Two weeks away from Christmas. You gave my mother and father and the rest of the world another reason to be scared. How are children suppose to be able to feel comfortable at school now? Children are wired to see someone older die, but parents should never have to witness their babies dying, especially at six to ten years of age.
I pray and hope for all the parents and children that were involved in this situation, to overcome this sad event...

Gun regulations, yo.

Lately in the news there has been a lot of events that involve innocent lives being taken away by a mentally unstable person with a gun. So our fantastic government's plan to fix this problem is "more guns, less regulations." Smart, right?(Noooo.) In the report the author states that our Second Amendment (the right to bear arms) basically requires regulations and what we have now is definitely not sufficient. Thankfully the New York requirement for a concealed hand gun license is no longer "proper cause". But then Illinois spoke out and said the ban for a concealed hand gun is unconstitutional.
Gun Regulations. CNN.com

I'm all for the whole concealed hand guns and all that, but we definitely need more laws to go with it. And finding out our government just wants to give out guns with fewer regulations just sounds like anarchy waiting to happen. So many people have been killed by a careless person with a gun, why give out more? I can understand if a teacher has a gun (as long as said teacher knows how to properly use it), but allowing someone inexperienced to handle it is going too far. Maybe owning a gun should come with the same regulations as owning a car: go through the proper training and testing to get a license.

Would it help? By Amanda Garcia

As everyone knows, in Newtown, Conneticut of the deadly killing of 27 children and adults in a local elementary school. This act was an awful tragedy, that will affect those families for the rest of their lives. However, now congress is debating on making a law on restricting the owning of guns. I do believe this would help our issue with the community latley, but then again I don't believe it would fix everything. Not everything bad in this world contained the use of a gun, like 9-11, or mostly during the Holocaust. These are both horrible events in our nations history that had nothing to do with guns. So even though I do support passing this law, I don't find it perfect to keep everything sane again.

Report of ’80s Sexual Abuse Rattles Yeshiva Campus by Natalie Newman

A scandal from the '80s is being brought up once again. At the Yeshiva University High School for Boys there were reported to be 2 rabbi's that were innapropiately conducting themselves with students. One rabbi was said to have knocked the student to the ground and sat on him, "goading him to wrestle." When the rabbi was questioned recently, he answered that he was breaking the tension between student and teacher. The other incident recently reported was that of a different rabbi who entered the students dorm room and inspected his genitalia" and "sodomized him with a toothbrush."

Both of these students were treated with little respect and in ways that would not be as easily dismissed nowadays. The article closes it well by saying that students are different these days. Students are not as quiet as they used to be.

its always the quiet ones...

this whole epidemic is surprising, but i think people are exaggerating just a little. it was a few kids and a few adults at one little school in one little town. so many more horrible things happen in the us and all over the world. I'm not saying i dont feel bad for the poor parents who get to spend this Christmas mourning for the loss of their young children. it really is a terrible thing, but young or not more people probably died that day in car wrecks. i cant seem to figure out what brings this event so much attention; the shooting at the batman movie didn't even get this much attention, nor is Sandy. even the president is crying about it because he understands; he has kids of his own. and its nice to know that the president can feel on the same level as the citizens. it makes him seem more like one of us than just our leader, but still, i think the whole thing is being exaggerated.

Who's fault is it really?

As we all know about the tragic killing of 27 children and teachers. The mother of the murder admitted to giving her son gun (shooting lessons) as a way of bonding. in itself, you know your children better than anything in the world, she knew her child was not fully stable d mentally to teach him how to shoot a gun. My heart goes out to him and his family because people like that all you can do is pray for them and move on. I do sincerly think that  he was out of his mind and that is no excuse, but there's no need for us to hate him because of something he did. I think we can be hurt and have an oppinion about the situation, but there's nobodies place to condemn him. His mother simply wanted to bond, I do agree that they could've talked and maybe a movie date would've been sufficient, but hey everybody has there own hobbies. It just sucks that this hobby killed 27 people.

Killing in san Antonio by desiree cook

Several people were I.hired and killed in San Antonio and they believe that this is from the allusion of the world ending in 2012. It was a massacre and no one expected it. The man walked into the movie theatre and just shot it up.

I think that these last two massacres are an eye opener to America and society that we are NOT safe and Barack needs to do something about this. People dying from left to right just because they think the world is ending was never part of the plan. When I say plan I'm referring to the families who have to prepare for next year without their child or better yet, plan their own child's or loved one's funeral. This is a big mess and needs to be fixed IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!

Obama visits school killing town by Jonathan Landeros

President Barack Obama arrived at the Connecticut community to meet up with families from the terrible chaos that happened with the killing of 20 children in elementary and 6 women on 12/14/12 at the sandy hook school. He will also be speaking at an inter-faith vigil in that town. Also police say they did not find evidence the mother of Lanza, the murderer, was involved with the school, but think Lanza attended the school when he was little. Now they are working on banning guns or lowering the limits of who can own guns, which it had been a law, but in 2004 it was broken for some cause.

Opinion: I'm sadden with these terrible news, I can't believe someone would do that to some children. It's just a real shock.

The brief life of a mass-murderer by Carter Brown

"A Connecticut official said the mother of the gunman in the Connecticut massacre was shot four times in the head before her son went to the elementary school where he gunned down 26 people. Adam Lanza then killed himself with a single bullet to the head from a 10 mm gun, and the bullet was recovered in a classroom wall. Law enforcement officers in Newtown, Conn. only had one brief contact with Lanza while the 20-year-old mass murderer was still alive." According to news reports all over the world, the FBI and police are in the process of uncovering the truth behind Adam Lanza's past and motives for the murder of 26 people. Many people know the story by now of how Lanza went on a very horrible and tragic shooting spree in the middle of an elementary school, killing 26 people including innocent children. Authorities say, however, that in an era of electronic and social presence preferred by young people, Lanza did not have much of an online identity. Friends and family say he was very shy and quiet, yet very smart. Almost a genius. As for my thoughts, I don't really have much to say that hasn't already been said by those before me. It is a very depressing subject for, not only myself, but millions others, including those personally affected by this incident. It is unfortunate to hear these things and come to the realization about the real world we all live in filled with people that commit these atrocious crimes for no known reason... 26 dead in elementary school shooting

Yesterday, in Newtown, Connecticut, crazed man Adam Lanza shot up Sandy Hook Elementary school killing a total of 26 people. Most of the victims were children. Lanza later committed suicide when police arrived at the scene. Many parents were devastated that their children's lives were taken away for no reason. The nation also felt this impact of this tragedy.
It's sad to see how inhumane how people kill children. Lanza is not only inhumane for this sadistic and cynical act he committed, but he's also a coward for taking his own life after taking so many innocent ones.

Emma's last hope by Amanda Garcia

A 6 year old girl, Emma Whitehead, had been battling acute lymphoblastic leukemia since she just turned 5. And spring of last year, she was right on the edge of life. Thats when doctors decided to try out a new method that had never been tested on a child or anyone with leukemia. This procedue did indeed work saving her life. It nearly killed her, but now she is up and strong.

I hope they can perfect this method so that they can do it on other patients that have the same disease as Emma. Hopefully this may be their final cure.

Apps for Children gone too far by Amanda Garcia

Now of days there are several ways for children to learn and grow their education besides at school. They have interactive gaming devices, speaking books and hundreds of smart phone apps. The issue that is unfolding, is that these apps have a large audience of children, and they are asking for personal information without parent approval. Such as name, phone number or location. Also with adds, out of the hundreds of apps only 25 say they do not have adds with their program, however only 15 of those 25 were telling the truth. So in conclusion these apps need to not have as personal questions, ask for a parent permission and overall just focus on the learning and teaching.

I personally dont believe that little children should be learning on iphones in the first place, and if they are, they certainly should be approved and safe. Several of these apps are tracking the location of the device without even telling the user, this is a huge safety hazard. I just hope they can figure this out before something serious happens.

Woman murdered a lottery winner by Omar Rivera

A woman from Florida was sentenced 25 years in prison plus lifetime prison. So technically until she dies, for using a gun with a felony! The man described her as an aggressive abusive and demanding woman. She killed the man and stole every penny of his.

This story shocked me. How can someone be so obsessed with money to be able to take someone's life away from them. I'm sure if the man won millions of dollars he wouldn't mind of you asked for like a couple thousands! Just ask! It's shocking to see citizens disrespect each other in such a way. Now my taxes are going to help pay for her life in prison! FML

Girl's Gene Therapy Eradicates her Cancer - Paolo Buccino

A seven year old girl was close to dying from Leukemia. Leukemia is cancer of the blood or bone marrow, and is very serious. At the University of Pennsylvania, the girl's T-Cells were genetically modified to hinder the cancer's ability to continue. Doctors were able to create an antidote to the side affects of the gene therapy, which has resulted in saving 10 other lives. This is really interesting, and important. Cancer is difficult to cure and chemotherapy can be dangerous. I wonder what countless great things discoveries like this could lead to.

4th Allegation of Elmo's Sex Scandal- Taiina Ayala

Kevin Clash, former Elmo pupeteer on Sesame Street, has been accused once again of inapprropriate relations with an underage, at the time, boy. This is terrible, but I can't help but feel that it's obviously a fishy situation that now all of a sudden these people keep coming out and saying they were abused by him once the first accuser miraculously "recanted" his allegations. I'm sure they gave him some money to shut him up and once these other men saw it, they wanted in on the money! Not that I'm justifying Clash's actions in any way, but I KIND OF feel bad that al lof this came out of no where and he was forced to resign from his pupeteer position of Elmo. We cannot be sure if all of these allegations are true or not, but one thing's for sure, Kevin Clash will not be doing the voice of Elmo any longer. Hopefully they will find an insanely good impressionist to replace him because Elmo just won't be the same without his signature voice!

Apple to start making products in the united states

Apple is going to move production of new Mac computers to the United states in early 2013. Although its most popular for our favorite products to be made in china, many customers are wanting a new experience and are asking that more things, such as apple technology and Mac computers are made in the U.S. I think this is silly. From china or from Europe it doesn't matter. If I'm getting the right products, functioning correctly, it truly doesn't matter. And personally I feel that the 100 million going into the project is just for entertaining the thought, meanwhile that money could go towards something useful like...hmm...I don't know...helping those who can't afford food? I don't know, maybe I'm just crazy /: . However, I could see why this article is important. It opens someone's eyes to how much of our business is really taken up by chinas hardworking vs. us doing our own.

Mexican singer dies in plane crash by Jonathan Landeros

An airplane crash that occurred yesterday by northern Mexico killed a Mexican-American singer and six other other people boarding the plane which includes two pilots. Pedro Rivera, the singers father, led this information to Mexican news about the incident that happened to his 43-year old daughter. They died in a Learjet 25 that crashed in Nuevo León state, and the brothers of this famous singer and other siblings are in pain. Now in honor of her they are posting her life struggles and gains all over Mexican news.

Opinion: well, I am truly sorry that this Mexican-American famous singer has left life without saying goodbye or dying in a comfort way.

Obama Going To Michigan to Push Higher Taxes for Richest- Natalie Newman

Obama recently hit the road again to Michigan in order to promote his plan to raise taxes on those who are wealthy. His goal is to convince people that his new economic policies will benefit the middle class. I do not believe this plan is fair to rich civilians who have worked exceptionally hard to gain their money and status. These people should not be punished with higher taxes for working long hard hours that helped them gain their wealth. Also, I do not believe taxing the wealthy civilians will lead to an improved middle class. However, the crowd responded with enthusian to Obama's plan. They chanted "Fired up, ready to go." With four more years, I can only hope a difference will be made.

Josh Brent arrested by Carter Brown

Cowboys' player Josh Brent was arrested by police on Saturday for charges of intoxication manslaughter. Police arrested him after an accident that had occurred earlier that same morning. He and other Cowyboys' teammate Jerry Brown were driving home at a high speed when Brent hit an outside curb on Route 114. The car flipped at least once before stopping in the middle of a service road. When police got there it was obvious Brent was intoxicated when he was asked to take several sobriety tests. Brown was found unresponsive by paramedics and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Source: http://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-cowboys-josh-brent-crash-20121208,0,7057214.story

Armed Senior Citizen (Bang) by Clara McLain

This is a video I saw today and thought I would write about.  It occurred in July, but it is relevant today.  The story is written by Austin L. Miller and is about two robbers, one armed with a baseball bat and the other with a handgun robbing an Internet cafe.  As the robbers told the patrons to get on the ground, an older gentleman with a concealed handgun started shooting at the robbers who ran out the door rather quickly.  The police were called out to the cafe where witnesses identified the robbers when another call came in about a shooting at a local ballpark, but no evidence was found of such a shooting.  And so the robbers were later transported to a hospital and identified as the Internet cafe robbers.  One suffered a wound in his arm and the other was shot in his hip and buttock.
Go Grandpa.  We should have more citizens with legal handguns to counteract those who have illegal arms.  The second amendment is something many people take for granted, and taking away the right to have one isn't going to stop people from getting one.

Woman wants to get rid of her probation by Omar Rivera aa

A woman that had sex with her former student in Florida insists to get off probation.she She has been on probation for 6 years already and wants an early 4 year release as she claims to the court.

This lady deserves to stay through the plan the court decided to give her. Bad decisions come with consequences and she has to realize that as well as serve what she deserves. She asked for this so it wasn't like she's super innocent and had nothing to do with the situation. As Americans we have to learn to follow the rules and regulations that apply to us.

NASA- No Luck for Mars Rover- Taiina Ayala

NASA reported Monday that the Mars Rover has not yet found any sign of life in the dirt. The mineralogical composition that had NASA curious and hopeful turned out to be similar to previously found composition foud by the former Spirit and Opportunity Rovers on Mars. Gases found coming up from the ground were water vapor and carbon dioxide, which is exciting and it's what originally caused the question of sign of life. Scientist are still working to find out why these gases were found on Mars, as they are not native to the large planet.

I think it's really great and exciting to hear about outer space studies. It's a very foreign concept to many of us. Although this particular instance, nothing positive was found, I feel like with each find we get closer and closer to finding another planet with a possibility life. It's very interesting and it cuold be very useful to not only the United States but to the whole world! I'm glad the United States is the main country involved though! Makes me proud to be an Amrican... :)

"You're Pretending To Be Gay?" -LaTerria Whitfield

A man named Urek was featured on The View for "pretending to be gay". He is from a small town in Tennessee. One of his female friends came out to her family and they shunned her. Him being a Christian understood where her parents were coming from. They were both raised with a very strong and strict Christian foundation. He was so serious about this that he wondered if his family would do the same. He "came out" to his family, convinced one of his friends to be his "lover", and worked at a gay bar. He pretended to be gay for a year. He was happy to discover that his parents didnt treat him any different.

Twins fighting in the womb!

Scientist in London have used the newly developed cinema-MRI technology to discover rare and often irregular conditions. This article covers the discovery of two twins "fighting" for leg room in the womb. Although twins are known to experience sibling rivalry, it surprised us all to get to see actual footage of them physically kicking eachother! Cute? I think so (:! I also think that its really great that we get to see such wonders with our new technology and medical knowledge. This article is important because it may help diagnose fatal illnesses that may affect twins in the womb, often times, the twins trying to over power the other can lead to lack of or over development among the children!

Obama Warns of Consequences for Syria - Paolo Buccino

In a speech today, President Obama warned the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad that there would be serious consequences if the Syrian military used chemical weapons against the rebels. Military intelligence detected the movement of chemical weapons around Syria. As of now, about 40,000 people have died because of the conflicts in Syria. If the Syrian government decided to use chemical warfare against it's own citizens, the results would be devastating. President Obama has not specified what the consequences would be. I think that there would be military intervention.

Voyager sees solar bigger than thought by: DESIREE COOK

There is. Not a spot beyond the end of our solar system. NASA officials have been saying for many months that voyager 1 is almost there when it comes to interstellar space. Voyager 1& 2 took off sixteen days apart in 1977 and voyager 1 is now 11 billion miles away from the sun. Monday,.project officials said new information sent back from the ship yielded a surprising result. When the direction of the magnetic lines change, voyager 1 will finally be in interdteallar space.

Ok so my whole concept is that voyager one is close to the sun but what does that have to do with our solar system. Its not clear to me if they're trying to find out how close we can get to the sun or how far our solar system is. I'm pretty much confused on their concept. I don't know too much about science but I feel that cnn needs to get it together before they leak out some cufusion to a subject that was maybe misunderstood.

Navy replacing mine-finding dolphins with robots starting 2017 - Jonas Portillo

In a bit of good news for dolphins – but bad news for robots – the Navy's roster of mine-hunting marine mammals is going to be replaced by unmanned underwater vehicles starting in 2017. The reason? It's not that the Navy's team of 24 mine-hunting dolphins is doing a bad job. It's just that it's a lot easier to manufacture and program a, "12-foot, torpedo-shaped robot," as reported by the San Diego Sea Tribune, than it is to stick a dolphin in a multi-year training program. That, and we presume it's a lot easier on the conscience if a hunk of lifeless parts gets blown up versus a… well, anyway. It's not as if the specially trained dolphins are being given a pink slip and sent out to a watery pasture. Rather, it's likely that the 24 mine-hunting dolphins – of 80 total dolphins within the Navy's $24 million marine mammal program – will be reassigned to different aquatic tasks. It's also possible that the dolphins might be retained to find bombs placed on the bottom of a body of water, a different kind of mine hunting that could still make use of the dolphins' unique skills. As for the logistics of mine hunting as a dolphin, we'll leave that to the Navy's website for the Marine Mammal Program, which describes the dolphins' capabilities in charming detail: "Everyone is familiar with security patrol dogs. You may even know that because of their exceptionally keen sense of smell, dogs like beagles are also used to detect drugs and bombs, or land mines. But a dog would not be effective in finding a sea mine," reads the Navy's site(describing a fairly obvious fact). "But just as the dog's keen sense of smell makes it ideal for detecting land mines, the U.S. Navy has found that the biological sonar of dolphins, called echolocation, makes them uniquely effective at locating sea mines so they can be avoided or removed." Now that the Navy can equip its underwater, robotic vehicles with a low-frequency broadband sonar – as reported by the Navy Times – the machines can effectively perform a similar task at a greater range, for longer times, without the need of a manned support boat for surface-based assistance. That said, some Navy officials still seem to have a certain fondness for mammals over machines. "The dolphins are phenomenal. Even with technology, we'll probably never come up with the ... level of intelligence to discern all of those things," said Ed Ebinger, deputy head of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Branch, in an interview with the Navy Times.

Katt Williams Arrested After Alleged bar rampage

Comedian Katt Williams gets arrested in a Seattle bar after he follows a family out of a bar and allegedly attacks a woman with a cigarette. He also threw a cigarette a the car. Williams was booked for alleged assault and harassment. I don't know what's going on with Katt lately, but he needs to get his act together before it's too late. But, I personally think there's another side of the story and maybe the whole situation wasn't his fault.

Deadly bus crash in Miami airport by Jonathan Landeros

A Jehovah's Witness bus hit a bridge in Miami international airport which killed two and injured the rest of the crew. This accident was an accident since the driver took the wrong turn and instead of driving trough the departure section he went through the arrival which is not made for buses height nor width . Police explained all and in one discussion said that the total number of people riding the bus were 32 and that the bus was privately owned , so no tourists were riding just local residents they say.

Opinion:
Well, I'm sorry for that mistake the driver did it led to other people losing life, and some getting scars.

Baby House by Clara McLain

This story by Jim Steinberg is about a protest for a "maternity hotel" in the town of Chino Hills.  The large house where immigrant women go to give birth to anchor babies, which will allow them to either stay in the country or make becoming a US citizen easier.  Many local residents believe the practice to be immoral and are trying to shut down the establishment.  "City officials are dealing with code enforcement issues, but not with the alleged illegal maternity operation, Mayor Art Bennett has said."
Though this practice seems to be very backwoods, the clients pay a large sum of money to have their baby at the house, and the clients found out about the house after finding a link on the internet advertising it.  Crazy the extent people go through to be here.
