Immigration detainee released By Andres Munoz

At first, Miguel Hernandez thought it was a mistake, or worse, a joke. The 19-year-old had been pulled over for failure to use his turn signal, but the fact that he is an undocumented immigrant landed him in a detention center in rural Georgia. Hernandez was certain that deportation proceedings would follow soon, and was mulling over it when a guard brought some news: He was being released. "I was walking and I was thinking, this is a joke. They probably got confused with another guy or something," Hernandez said. More likely, Hernandez was one of hundreds of undocumented immigrants released from detention because of looming budget cuts set to take effect Friday absent congressional action.
Hundreds of undocumented immigrants being released because of budget cuts is pretty sad. There is so many incarcerated that they can lose enough just to balance out costs. Hopefully one day they will be released without the reason being budget cuts and people wont take it as a joke.http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/27/politics/immigration-detainees/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Student killed at Coastal Carolina University By Andres Munoz

A South Carolina university remained locked down early Wednesday morning as police searched for the person who shot and killed a student in a campus dormitory.
Officials at Coastal Carolina University in Conway said the school still plans to hold classes Wednesday, and will make counselors available.
The victim was identified as Anthony Darnell Liddell, 19, from Bennettsville.
The shooting took place at the University Place residence hall, the school said. The suspected shooter left in a vehicle, and police continue to look for him. More than 9,000 students attend the school, which is on 630 acres about 15 miles northwest of Myrtle Beach. Coastal Carolina University was founded in 1954 as Coastal Carolina Junior College. It became an independent university in 1993.
Murders at universities? Aren't universities supposed to be the safest campus? Besides all the drinking and partying, murders are supposed to be the farthest thing away from college life. http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/26/us/south-carolina-campus-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_bn1

Gunman wore body armor by Carter Brown

'Jeremy Goulet, the man suspected of killing two Santa Cruz police officers Tuesday, was wearing body armor and carrying three handguns, authorities discovered after Goulet was fatally wounded in a shootout with authorities, Santa Cruz County Sheriff Phil Wowak said. Police suspect Goulet was carrying the guns of the two officers, Elizabeth Butler and Loran "Butch" Baker, Wowak told reporters. The officers were killed on the doorstep of Goulet's Santa Cruz home, he said. The shootings began about 3:30 p.m. when a man, believed to be Goulet, opened fire on the two officers, who were conducting a follow-up investigation at a home, authorities said.Wowak said the officers were wearing plain clothes and were attempting to obtain information from Goulet, who had been accused in a sexual assault case. The officers had “no suspicion they would be in danger,” he said. Butler was a 10-year Santa Cruz Police Department veteran, and Baker was a 28-year veteran, authorities said. “There should be no suspicion or second-guessing on how they ended up where they were,” Wowak said. “They were just doing their job.” Goulet had come to Santa Cruz, a seaside community about 60 miles south of San Francisco, “just months ago,” Wowak said. After the officers were shot, Goulet allegedly disarmed them and stole Baker’s vehicle, Wowak said. He left the home but remained in the neighborhood, he said. “It’s our belief that he remained in the neighborhood … due to the overwhelming number of law enforcement officers that were responding to the incident.” Wowak said details have emerged about Goulet through interviews with people who knew him. He was characterized as being “angry,” “destructive in nature” and as being “unhappy in his life,” Wowak said. Acquaintances suspected he was “either suicidal or homicidal,” he said. Goulet was arrested Friday on suspicion of disorderly conduct at the same location where the two officers were killed, according to the sheriff's online records. News accounts from the Oregonian newspaper in Portland state that in 2008, a Jeremy Peter Goulet was sentenced to three years' probation and sex-offender treatment after a conviction for peeping at a 22-year-old woman as she showered in her northwest Portland condo.' Still Wearing You're Hoodies?- Jorge Olvera

About a year ago there was a confrontation between a young black male Trayvon Martin and Hispanic George Zimmerman. It had ended with one gunshot. Trayvon had died at the young age of 17, this month he would of been 18 years of age.
George Zimmerman is still on the defense on what happened that night. He committed murder that die on self defense, but he shouldn't of followed Martin in the first place. Then it could be argued that the police are never there when you need them. One of the things that the media has tried to shove out is that Trayvon is an angle. Before that incident he was in several fights and suspended on many occasions, and this kid is way bigger than Zimmerman. He played football! If someone that big was beating me up, i'd be scared for my life and if I had a gun I would pop it as fast as I could.

Low Yields Spell Trouble for Retirees- Natalie Newman

At the Emory University, racial wounds were reopened when the president of the University, James W. Wagner, wrote about, and favored, the 1787 compromise in which each slave was valued as one fifths of a person. The University is also at a time where budgets are being called upon and many people feel that the budget cuts are mainly targeting the minority. According the article, this year has been a rough one for the Emory University when dealing with racism, even dealing with Christianity, not just African Americans.
This article discusses the ongoing battle for the SCLC in today’s society. Many students protested the hatred James W. Wagner expressed in his recent post in the University’s newspaper. Wagner continues to apologize but students continue to protest that he be fired and punished.

9-year old rapper's video goes viral

Nine year old rapper Louie Rivera a.k.a Lil Poopy has a viral video that proposes adult themes in it. This video feature Louie driving a ferrari and flashing money all over the place. This video also featured sexual themes in it. Neighbors were concerned about this boy's video and called the police. I don't know why a lot of children want to become rappers now, half of the rappers today are bad and they're fake. Also rappers today don't really have a positive message in their music. I don't know why this boy's parents would let him do such a thing.

ANCIENT "Micro Continent" DISCOVERED UNDER INDIAN OCEAN - Jonas Portillo

The remains of a micro-continent scientist call Mauritia might be preserved under huge amounts of ancient lava beneath the Indian Ocean, a new analysis of island sands in the area suggests. These findings hint that such micro-continents may have occurred more frequently than previously thought, the scientists who conducted the study, detailed online Feb. 24 in the journal Nature Geoscience, say. Researchers analyzed sands from the isle of Mauritius in the western Indian Ocean. Mauritius is part of a volcanic chain that, strangely, exists far from the edges of its tectonic plate. In contrast, most volcanoes are found at the borders of the tectonic plates that make up the surface of the Earth. Investigators suggest that volcanic chains in the middle of tectonic plates, such as the Hawaiian Islands, are caused by giant pillars of hot molten rock known as mantle plumes. These rise up from near the Earth's core, penetrating overlying material like a blowtorch.  Mantle plumes can apparently trigger continental breakups, softening the tectonic plates from below until they fragment — this is how the lost continent of Eastern Gondwana ended about 170 million years ago, prior research suggests. A plume currently sits near Mauritius and other islands, and the researchers wanted to see if they could find ancient fragments of continents from just such a breakup there. The beach sands of Mauritius are the eroded remnants of volcanic rocks created by eruptions 9 million years ago. Collecting them"was actually quite pleasant," said researcher Ebbe Hartz, a geologist at the University of Oslo in Norway. He described walking out from a tropical beach, "maybe with a Coke and an icebox, and you dig down underwater into sand dunes at low tide." Within these sands, investigators discovered about 20 ancient zircon grains (a type of mineral) between 660 million and 1,970 million years old. To learn more about the source of this ancient zircon, the scientists investigated satellite maps of Earth's gravity field. The strength of the field depends on Earth's mass, and since the planet's mass is not spread evenly, its gravity field is stronger in some places on the planet's surface and weaker in others. The researchers discovered Mauritius is part of a contiguous block of abnormally thick crust that extends in an arc northward to the Seychelles islands. The finding suggests Mauritius and the adjacent region overlie an ancient micro-continent they call Mauritia. The ancient zircons they unearthed are shards of lost Mauritia. The researchers meticulously sought to rule out any chance these ancient grains were contaminants from elsewhere. "Zircons are heavy minerals, and the uranium and lead elements used to date the ages of these zircons are extraordinarily heavy, so these grains do not easily fly around — they did not blow into Mauritius from a sandstorm in Africa," Hartz told OurAmazingPlanet. "We also chose a beach where there was no construction whatsoever — that these grains did not come from cement somewhere else," Hartz added. "We were also careful that all the equipment we used to collect the minerals was new, that this was the first time it was used, that there was no previous rock sticking to it from elsewhere." After analyzing marine fracture zones and ocean magnetic anomalies, the investigators suggest Mauritia separated from Madagascar, fragmented and dispersed as the Indian Ocean basin grew between 61 million and 83.5 million years ago. Since then, volcanic activity has buried Mauritia under lava, and may have done the same to other continental fragments. "There are all these little slivers of continent that may peel off continents when the hotspot of a mantle plume passes under them," Hartz said. "Why that happens is still mind-boggling. Why, after something gets ripped apart, would it rip apart again?" Finding past evidence of lost continents normally involves tediously crushing and sorting volcanic rocks, Hartz explained. The researchers essentially let nature do the work of pulverization for them by looking at sand. And it's so cool that there is a micro continent and wonder what it could have been like.

How your smartphone will get smarter by Jonathan Landeros

Smartphones have really changed people's everyday life by adding easier movement in organizing, communicating, emailing, businesses, shopping etc.Now we are moving to the next big step which is 3-D display, biometric security, wireless payments, personal concierge, and no more screens! The 3-D display will let u shop into a 3-D display of stores, business, phone calls and web browsing so u can just see everything u want clearly. The biometric system will take away all the number and pattern locks for your phone, but will also need face recognition and voice recognition. The phone will also exit out all wallets by becoming your e-wallet including all your payments, license, Identification. The personal concierge will include a Siri like apples product, iPhones, but with the 3-D display it will show a mans or women's face that will do the things u want to for you and it will act like a human knowing what you like, desire, have browsed and personal occupations. No more screens as well because of course the new display will delete all the old screens, but for the publics likes they will have both for you to choose.

Option: This is pretty awesome and sounds easy to handle, but then again i don't know, these things could be used for more enslaving choices,

Preschools can't all be the same

In this article, it talks about Obama wanting preschool to be mandatory for all children. However, as great as this sounds, not every preschool can be the same. The author of this article mentions that every school is funded either by parents or the government, and if the school doesn't receive enough money then the school sadly won't be so great, meaning a poor education for the students. Early education isn't a bad thing but a not-so-great one is.

It sounds nice knowing that Obama wants to make early education mandatory, but if there are conflicts that are stopping this education from being a good one, then I'm against it being mandatory. If it's forced upon a child for them to enroll in preschool and that school is a terrible one then the student will have started their education off on the wrong foot.

The body of a young girl was found in the water tank of a Los Angeles hotel. Elisa Lam's corps was found by a maintenance worker. The body had been slowly decomposing for more than two weeks. Tourist staying at the hotel used the water and reported that the water had a funny taste. It was not clear if the water presented any helth risk.

The 21 years old Canadian was reported missing by her parents in early February. She was last seen January 31 at the hotel. Detectives are still investigating her strange death. The hotel remains open, but the people have been told not to drink the water.

Here Comes The BOOM!!! by- Jorge Olvera

So I was chilling one Sunday morning and my mommy asked, "Did you hear what happened in Russia?," and I was like, "No, what happened?"
She had told me that a meteor hit Russia and F'ed up half the country! She continue to tell me, while I ate my cold pizza, that a fragment of it also flew into Alaska, causing more damage. I was just like, "DAAAAANNNG, that sucks."

Doing the blog, I searched up what happened and an estimated 950 people were injured. It also says that the shockwave was also very devastating destroying 300 buildings! The reason why this rare rock hit was because it was thought that it would fly over Earth and not on it.

The Astonishing Growth of Government Spending on the Poor- Natalie Newman

Everyone is aware of the dramatic increase on government spending towards the poor. There are three specific areas in which this increase is coming from; more people in the US, health care and new programs. Things established under the Affordable Care Act, such as Medicaid, Medicare and new insurance exchange are the causes for the increase in low-income spending.
Many people take notice of the fact that the government spending on the poor is aiding them so that they don’t “miss out” from growth. Many others, however, feel that this galore of money could be spent towards “more productive” things.

Song Against Bullying- Taiina Ayala

New Jersey Rutgers University student Alexandra Kelly has written a song against bullying after she heard about high school freshman, Tyler Clementi, committed suicide as an effect of bullying. Now her song "Perfectly Imperfect" has been raising awareness for the organization that was named after Tyler Celemeti, the Tyler Clementi Foundation. Clemnti jumped off of a bridge when his roommate secretly recorded him kissing another man. The song Kelly wrote was inspired by a poem her sister wrote when she was sixteen. Alexandra herself has come out about how she herself was bullied in high school and middle school for her passion for music and that is part of the reason the story of Tyler Clementi drew her in. What she has done for the foundation has been phenomenal.
I think what Alexandra Kelly has been doing for the foundation is really great. Awareness has been raised all over the country after teen suicide reports have been at an all time high. I appreciate these organizations and foundations that "work to help kids come out in a comfortable and safe space."

Parents Pressure Girl To Have Abortion By Andres Munoz

The parents of a 16-year-old, pregnant Texas girl agreed Monday in a state court not to coerce her to have an abortion, an anti-abortion group representing the girl said.
"We just achieved an agreed order," Stephen Casey, a lawyer and founder of The Texas Center for Defense of Life, told CNN in a telephone interview. "They agreed to it, signed it and it was signed by the judge."
Casey had argued that Roe v. Wade, the historic 1973 Supreme Court decision that guaranteed women the right to have an abortion, works both ways.
"Roe was about the right to choose," Casey told CNN prior to the order being signed. "This young woman has the right to choose to have her child."
Abortion is a very controversial topic in today's world, but it also surprises me that the state would give a 16 year old the freedom to choose to abort or not. In the end that's the only opinion that really matters, the parents of the future kid.http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/18/us/texas-abortion-teen-lawsuit/index.html?hpt=us_c2

Zombie Apocalypse By Andres Munoz

While America slept -- or at least while the left ate their organic ostrich burgers, drank their jackfruit-guava-flavored vitamin water and tweeted "cleverly" about Marco Rubio's "Watergate" -- Canada was preparing to counter a growing threat to the nation.
Patriotic members of the Canadian Parliament stood up to political correctness last week by declaring that Canada will not tolerate an influx of zombies. Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird even went as far as to boldly state that "Canada will never become a safe haven for zombies, ever."
Of course, the lamestream media didn't cover this story. They prefer you worry about things like meteors and cruise ships instead of a growing zombie threat.
But it's time for Americans to wake up! Canada's zombie preparedness means one thing for us: Zombies will be driven out of Canada and into the United States. And once they are here, good luck getting them out of the country.
Seems like Canada is prepared for pretty much anything at this point, but should we be? Is a zombie apocalypse really all that likely? In my opinion we shouldnt be worried about zombies at all, we should be worried about being more prepared for another stock market crash.http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/18/opinion/obeidallah-canada-zombies/index.html?hpt=hp_c2

Oscar Pistorius Girlfrind Shot 4 Times By Andres Munoz

Model Reeva Steenkamp was shot four times through the bathroom door at the home of Olympian Oscar Pistorius, a South African official familiar with the case told CNN on Monday.
She was alive after she was shot and was carried downstairs by Pistorius, said the official, who was not authorized to release details to the media.
A blood-stained cricket bat has also emerged as key evidence in the case, according to the City Press newspaper of Johannesburg.
Detectives are working to determine whether the bat was used to attack Steenkamp or she used it in self-defense, the newspaper reported, citing a source with inside knowledge of the case. Detectives are also looking into the possibility that Pistorius used the bat to break down the bathroom door.
It is not certain that Oscar Pistorius commited this murder. Either way I belive they should not make these kind of accusations until the prosecutors are sure of their evidence. New Angels slugger Josh Hamilton sparks controversy in Texas - Jonas Portillo

New Angels slugger Josh Hamilton ruffled some feathers in Texas on Monday when he told a television reporter that the Dallas-Fort Worth area isn't “a true baseball town,” a statement that is sure to earn him even more boos when the Angels play the Rangers in Texas on April 5. “Texas, especially Dallas, has always been a football town,” Hamilton, a five-time All-Star with the Rangers, said in an interview with Gina Miller of Dallas-based CBS-TV 11. “They’re supportive, but they also got a little spoiled at the same time, pretty quickly. There are true baseball fans in Texas, but it’s not a true baseball town.” Texas Manager Ron Washington declined to fuel a war of words, telling Rangers writers, “Josh is an Anaheim Angel. That’s his opinion. There were 3.5 million fans who came through the turnstiles [last season]. That answers it right there.” But Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News called Hamilton’s statement “a poison-tipped barb at a fan base that did nothing for five years but support him and offer him pretty much a free pass, regardless of the excuse or indiscretion.” Richard Durrett of ESPN Dallas.com acknowledged that “everyone knows” Dallas is a football town first, “but that doesn't mean it's not a baseball town. Hamilton should know better.” Hamilton offered no apologies after Monday’s workout with the Angels. “I told them on camera — I said there’s true baseball fans and then there are others that are not,” Hamilton said. “The ones that are true baseball fans won’t boo when I come back, and the ones that are not true fans will.” Hamilton’s reference to Rangers fans being spoiled has to do with the expectations created by World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011 and the harsh treatment he and the Rangers received from the home crowd after losing last year’s wild-card game to Baltimore. Hamilton went 0 for 4 and swung and missed at six of the eight pitches he saw in that game. “I’m not saying I don’t still appreciate them, but reality is reality,” Hamilton said. “I  think I've always spoken the truth. I don’t beat around the bush. But I loved my time there.”

Russian scientists find meteor fragments by Jonathan Landeros

Some Russian scientists found fragments of the meteor that passed earth on Friday making a boom, which blasted the glass parts to that area injuring people and damaging material. The scientists found that the meteor is mostly made of rock and some iron and that the fragments were tracked down to the surface of lake chebarkul. The scientists found 53 pieces on top and believe that the rest of it went deep down the lake. The explosion left a lot of damages and injuries and a video which was recorded at that time.Aside from that police are searching online for people selling fragments they've found for up to 4,000 dollars. They also say the meteor released about 500 kilotons of energy, 33 times more than the time US dropped the nuclear bomb on Hiroshima , Japan in 1945.

Pell Grant Scammers- Taiina Ayala

Um, this is literally offensive and disgusting. "Students" (not really) have been accepting Pell Grants and not using them for school. If you didn't already know, Pell Grants are grants given to college students in the form of financial aid. But many students have been accepting the money, and not even taking classes. As a result, tuition for some colleges and universities will likely go up. I am so appalled. There are actual people out there who need that money to get higher education and people like these people are just taking it?? NO. That's so annoying and now future students will have to pay even more for college, as if it isn't already ridiculously overpriced, because of their stupid selfish decisions. I know times are getting tough out there but this is totally just the lazy way out. Not to mention that this is a FEDERAL grant. FEDERAL, which means WE, tax payers, pay for it! Last year alone taxpayers lost 1.2 billion dollars from these scammers. Crazy. And now when we go to college, we'll have to pay for it in $$$ :( Even more. Just add it to my unavoidable debt.

2 questioned in death by Carter Brown

'Two people are being questioned in connection with the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old Chicago woman who was killed Friday, the same day her sister attended President Barack Obama's speech on gun violence, officials said Sunday. An 18-year-old man and a 20-year-old man are considered persons of interest in the homicide investigation and are being questioned by North Chicago police and officials from the Lake County State's Attorney's Office in connection with the death of Janay McFarlane, according to a statement released this afternoon by North Chicago police. The men were arrested after McFarlane was shot at about 11:30 p.m. Friday on the 1300 block of Jackson Avenue in the northern suburb. McFarlane, 18, of the 8900 block of South Lowe Avenue, was in North Chicago visiting family and friends and was walking with friends when she was shot, according to her mother Angela Blakely. McFarlane was walking with friends, one of whom may have been the intended target, said Blakely. When police responded to a call of shots being fired in the area they found McFarlane fatally shot, police said. They canvassed the area and were tipped off to the men who were taken in for questioning, according to police. McFarlane was killed just hours after her sister, Destini Warren, 14, had attended President Barack Obama's speech against gun violence Friday. Blakely, the mother of both girls, said that the family had been anticipating the President's visit to the school where Destini is a freshman. Leading up to the visit, McFarlane frequently mentioned the recent death of Hadiya Pendleton, 15, whose own shooting death a mile from the Obama's home spurred the President's visit. "It's terrible, it's terrible the only thing I can remember is my daughter telling me, 'Mommy, it's so sad about Hadiya. That makes no sense,' " Blakely said. "She always asked me a lot of questions about death.'

Pope Benedict XVI announces resignation - Jonas Portillo

pope Benedict XVI stunned the world and left the Catholic church reeling when he said on Monday that he would resign – the first pope to do so since the middle ages. The move, announced without warning, will take place on 28 February and leave the papacy vacant until a successor is chosen. A Vatican spokesman said the pontiff's aides were "incredulous" when he told them he would step down because he was too weak to fulfill his duties. The pope summoned a meeting of cardinals to tell them of "a decision of great importance for the life of the church". One of those called to hear the announcement, the Mexican prelate Monsignor Dr Oscar Sanchez  said none of the cardinals had expected it. "The pope took a sheet of paper and read from it. He just said that he was resigning and that he would be finishing on February 28," he said. "The cardinals were just looking at one another. Then the pope got to his feet, gave his benediction and left. It was so simple; the simplest thing imaginable. Extraordinary. Nobody expected it. Then we all left in silence. There was absolute silence … and sadness."

Snow fight by Jonathan Landeros

Snow is finally clearing up after a severe storm hit many cities leaving more than dozens dead and 345,000 homes and businesses without power. In New York, police say that they rescued many motorists stuck under tons of snow on the Long Island Expressway. After, the snow cleared a bit, it left coastal blizzard and floods in these areas.Boston's Logan International Airport and three Airports in New York City have begun working again after the sudden pause they took on Saturday due to the storm. Fifteen deaths have been blamed on the storm since it either caused them to get killed by cars or crash incidents or just home snow relating accidents caused by the storm. The storm keeps going for now, and are still in update.

Opinion: I hope the storm leaves quick and I hope everyone still alive drives safety to keep everyone calm.

Hundreds Line Up To Mourn Slain Teen In Chicago by Carlos Walcott

Hundreds of mourners and dignitaries including first lady Michelle Obama packed the funeral Saturday for a Chicago honor student whose killing brought major attention to the nation's debate over gun violence. Hadiya Pendleton was an excellent student with dreams of going to college. She was said to also have a bright smile and big personality. Hadiya Pendleton was shot and killed January 29th as she stood with friends at a park about a mile from President Barack Obama's Chicago home in the Kenwood neighborhood.Police say Pendleton was an innocent victim in a gang-related shooting. Michelle Obama met privately with her family. Obama, who grew up on Chicago's South Side, then accompanied the girl's mother to the open casket at the front of the Greater Harvest Baptist Church. Pendleton's death brought new attention to Chicago's homicide rate. It came in a January that was the city's deadliest in a decade. In 2012, Chicago recorded 506 homicides. Police have said the shooting appeared to be a case of mistaken identity involving gang members who believed the park, near Lake Michigan and north of the University of Chicago, was their territory. No charges have been filed. We really need to get this whole debate on gun violence together. Innocent people are dying because of irresponsible people with guns doing stupid stuff. Let's get it together..

Four Shot During Argument by Carter Brown

Four people were wounded by gunfire on New Orleans' famed Bourbon Street as an argument broke out in the middle of a Mardi Gras costume party. Four shots were fired Saturday night, followed by screams, a video taken by a bystander and released by the police showed. The authorities said an argument involving some of those in the crowd led up to the shooting. No arrests were immediately reported and the police said they were seeking three men. Those wounded included a man who was shot in the abdomen, thigh and pelvis along with another man and two women, a spokesman for the New Orleans Police, Frank B. Robertson, said. His statement said the others were also hit by gunshots: the man in the buttocks, one woman on the chin and right foot and the other on a toe. The police had said late Saturday that the most severely wounded man was in critical condition and undergoing surgery while the others were stable. They did not give their names or ages. The shooting came on the last weekend of partying before Mardi Gras, the Fat Tuesday celebration that is the signature tourist event of the year in New Orleans. According to the article, New Orleans has had a notable increase in violence since hurricane Katrina back in 2005. I understand that people have arguments, especially when there are parties and I assume alcohol was probably involved, but when an argument arises, there is no need to pull a gun in a crowd and start a random shooting. That's how innocent people get hurt or even killed. We hear about this sort of thing on the news every day. It's just unfortunate. Turn On The Lights!- Jorge Olvera

The San Francisco 49er's and The Baltimore Ravens had a very heated game this past Sunday! Both teams played with all they had. During the game they had some minor  problems like a power outage, which was the first time I have ever witnessed at a foot ball game let alone The Superbowl. It lasted for about 15 to 30 minutes.
After that the 49er's came back hard and determined but ended up losing. It came close but not enough. I was going for The Ravens so i was not at all disappointed with this game at all. We saw some good plays and amazing catches.

Why the "Citizen Militia" Theory is the Worst Pro-gun Arument Ever- Natalie Newman

Mark Nukols writes about one of the most controversial topics at the time in one of his latest articles in The Atlantic Monthly. The difference between the 21st century right to bear arms and the 18th century right to bear arms is a voluminous one. Centuries ago, if a citizen was armed and was using it as a defense weapon they would truly be defending their liberty and freedom; however, nowadays, many people bear arms and use them freely and as a response to  “spur the moment” anger. Protecting ones rights is a term that is being thrown around when justifying robbery and bloodshed rather than justifying a citizen’s democracy and liberty.

Cyber Attacks - Paolo Buccino

The department of energy was recently hit by a cyber attack. A lot of personal information from workers was compromised and it is possible that the attack was aimed at gathering more sensitive information. China is a possible suspect for the attacks. The FBI stated that the department is a "known target of Beijing" and that "the sophistication of the attack indicates the involvement of a foreign government."

Cyber attacks are when hackers break into the computer networks of other governments or companies to trespass and steal information, spy, or remotely control operations. It is possible for a terrorist cyber attack to black out the power grid, or shut down the stock exchange, for example. It concerns me that threats are sometimes no longer tangible.

Obama: Ban on Boy Scouts Discrimination- Taiina Ayala

Hallelujiah! President Barack Obama announced in his Pre-Super Bowl interview his proposal on the rule that states that The Boy Scouts of America does not accept gay boys. He said, "My attitude is that gays and lesbians should have access and opportunity the same way everybody else does, in every institution and walk of life." Great. GReat. GREat. GREAt. GREAT. Once again, Obama is asserting and being very clear on his stance when it comes to gay rights. Yaaaaayy. At the same time he praised the institution; The Boy Scouts of America. He said "The Scouts are a great institution that are promoting young people and exposing them to opportunities and leadership that will serve people for the rest of their lives. And I think nobody should be barred from that." Great. The end. (:

Former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle Killed at Gun Range by Carter Brown

A former Marine has been charged with three counts of murder in the killing of former Navy SEAL and "American Sniper" author Chris Kyle, the most deadly sniper in U.S. history, and another man at an Erath County, Texas, gun range, police said. "We have lost more than we can replace. Chris was a patriot, a great father, and a true supporter of this country and its ideals. This is a tragedy for all of us. I send my deepest prayers and thoughts to his wife and two children," Scott McEwen, co-author of "American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History," said in a statement to ABC News. Remembering Kyle for the number of Iraqi insurgents he killed misstates his legacy, McEwen said. The suspect, identified as Eddie Ray Routh, 25, was arrested in Lancaster, Texas, after a brief police chase, a Lancaster Police Department dispatcher told ABC News. Routh was driving Kyle's truck at the time of his arrest, police said. Routh was arraigned Saturday evening on one count of capital murder and two counts of murder. He was brought to the Erath County Jail this morning and was being held there today on a combined $3 million bond, Officer Kyle Roberts said.Investigators told WFAA that Routh is a former Marine who suffers from post-traumatic stress syndrome. Kyle helped found a nonprofit that provides at-home fitness equipment for emotionally and physically wounded veterans, but the director of the foundation said Kyle and Routh had not met through the organization. Authorities identified the other man who was killed with Kyle as 35-year-old Chad Littlefield, who Cox said was Kyle's neighbor and friend.
