Democrats announce agreement with President Trump to spend $2 trillion on 'big and bold' infrastructure plan - Dillon Quicksall

Democrats emerged alongside sitting President Donald Trump with the news that they had conceived plans to spend $2 Trillion dollars on infrastructure over the next 25 years. Both  Political Parties have expressed desires to fix the issue of our country's decaying infrastructure, but until now nothing has been done. There is still the issue of how we are to pay for this, which neither party has been able to agree upon. However, Trump is expected to put forth a proposal for the payment method soon. The Infrastructure plan includes improving roads, bridges, and highways and hopes to create better ways to transport clean energy across the country, which could be very environmentally beneficial (even though Trump has shown no love to the environment thus far.)
This excites me, as I have heard very little good political news recently, and the fact that we have been able to agree upon something as a country gives me some hope  for our country that I did not previously have. While a great deal about the details remains in question, this is inarguably good news for our country, as both parties have finally agreed upon something that we can use to further benefit our country.

2 dead after shots fired at UNC Charlotte, and 4 others were injured, officials say- Rachel DuBard

https://apple.news/ANhmPSfXqSiCVTimSqHrheQ

Two people were killed and four others are hurt after shots were fired at the UNC Charlotte campus on Tuesday afternoon. Two of the people who were shot have life-threatening injuries, according to Medic. As of 7 p.m., the lockdown on the campus was continuing. The university first tweeted about the incident just before 6 p.m. Shots were reported near the Kennedy building on campus. In a second tweet, at about 6:25 p.m., university officials said a campus lockdown continued. In a third alert, the university’s office of emergency management said buildings were being swept by law enforcement. A university spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment. No victims names have been released yet.
I hope that they find who did this horrific assault on these students and that nobody else is found injured. This relates to history in the sense of every single last shooting taken place in America. At every school, every movie theater, and every airport in which there has been a shooting, it comes quick and without any signs. The only way to change this is by enforcing gun control and then no others will be lost.

Digital Ad Growth Is Forcing Google's Hands: Kadar Price

DIGITAL AD GROWTH IS FORCING GOOGLE'S HANDS

Google has dominated the online ad market for years, but its first semester earnings report suggests that competitors may be nibbling at its heels.

Investors shoved down the stock of Google's parent company, Alphabet, more than 7% in after-hours trading Monday after it reported revenue that fell short of analyst expectations. That dive could cut more than $65 billion from Alphabet's market value if it maintains when the markets open Tuesday Google's advertising revenue, its key income, grew by 15 percent to $30.7 billion - slower than investors had hoped. Its digital-ad rivals Facebook and Amazon, meanwhile, both reported strong earnings last week, adding to the investor surprise when Alphabet stumbled despite a solid economy.

Alphabet executives deflected concerns of rising competition on a conference call with analysts Monday.

Woman Obsessed With Columbine: Kadar Price

Woman Obsessed With Columbine

On April 17, an 18-year-old woman flew to Colorado from Florida and bought a shotgun. A manhunt ensued once it was revealed that she was obsessed with the Columbine massacre that was about to have its 20th anniversary. Hundreds of Colorado schools closed or went on lockdown/lockout as the manhunt continued, but later that night, the woman was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Notre-Dame Fire: Kadar price

NOTRE-DAME FIRE

Notre-Dame cathedral, the symbol of the beauty and history of Paris, was scarred by an engulfing fire on Monday afternoon that caused its fragile spire to collapse, smothered the Parisian skies with smoke and further disheartened a city already back on its feet after weeks of violent protests.

The spectacle of flames jumping from the cathedral’s wooden roof, its spire glowing bright red then turning into a virtual cinder; stunned a plethora of witnesses who gathered along the banks of the Seine and packed into the plaza of the nearby Hôtel de Ville, gasping and covering their mouths in horror and wiping away tears.

A Houston High School Has a New Dress Code. For Parents. - Emma Hancock

A Houston High School Has a New Dress Code. For Parents.

In this article it discusses the decision of James Madison High School in Houston, TX to ban all “revealing and sagging clothing for all people visiting the school, as well as pajamas, hair rollers and satin caps and bonnets.” This decision was made for parents to set an example for students attending the school so they learn what attire is appropriate in settings such as school or the workplace. A story was shown in the article of a mother that was turned away from enrolling her daughter because of her short dress and headscarf.

This article reminds me of when women in the 20th century were expected to set a beauty standard for their daughters and look presentable at all times. It’s interesting that some places are reverting to these traditional standards of what it means to look professional.

Woodstock Canceled? : Zoe Williams

A donor for Woodstock told ABC that Woodstock may be canceled due to the fact that the festival could not live up to the Woodstock name and be safe for all participants.  However, representative of Woodstock itself claims that the show will go on.  Tickets have not gone on sale yet while they figure out some logistical issues.

I thought this article was interesting because it has to do with the manipulation of the media.  In a world where fake news is such a significant worry too such a large portion of the population, it is important to take note of the situation where the media recognizes where they may be being manipulated.  This problem with Woodstock can be related to the recent outbreak at Coachella.

Ellie Colwill - Watch a debate over whether Pluto should get its planet status back

If you're someone who doesn't agree with the with Pluto's planetary demotion from a decade ago, then you'll be surprised to hear about the debate over the definition of the word "planet." Alan Stern, one of Pluto's greatest defenders, is debating against Ron Ekers, who used to be the International Astronomical Union's President, who is also responsible for redefining the term "planet." The 'planet' debate was initially started in 2005, when they found another tiny world about the same size as Pluto. The IAU officially redefined the term "planet" to meet specific criteria: it has to orbit the sun, it has to be rounded out by gravity, and it has to have cleared its orbital neighborhood.

I would like to relate this to the time that Pluto was first demoted. In 1930, Pluto was first announced as a planet. In 2006, stated by the IAU, Pluto was announced and demoted to be a Dwarf Planet.

Camille Cole - Trump is Hiding His Wallet

Camille Cole - Trump is Hiding His Wallet

Summary: Donald Trump and his children have now sued two banks in order to block them from releasing his financial documents to the House of Representatives who have issued subpoenas for Trump’s financial documents. This is his second attempt to keep the House from getting ahold of any of his financial documents. It is against Deutsche Bank and Capital One.

Analysis: This is so obvious at this point. If he didn’t have something to hide, then why would he be so averse to anybody getting their hands on his financial documents? He’s practically indicting himself and giving it all away by working so tirelessly against them seeing his finances. With all that has been released against him, what else could he have to hide in these financial documents? I’m sure it will come out soon enough and we will learn the truth.

Haley Bogdon - Army veteran charged with plotting terror attacks in LA area

The article was written about a 26 year old US Army solider who was charged with planning terrorist attacks in Los Angeles, CA.  Mark Steven Domingo was planning to detonate bombs containing nails at a Long Beach rally that was put on by a white nationalist group.  He was arrested Friday night after he picked up the bombs. Domingo wanted to get revenge for attacks that happened against Muslims and he wanted to attack Jewish people, churches and law enforcement officers.  He posted a video online on March 2 about his Muslim faith and stated that "America needs another Vegas event."  He also stated that he wanted there to be revenge for the New Zealand mosque shooting.  Domingo asked an FBI agent informant to help him build a bomb and he met with him to discuss this plan.  Luckily, he was arrested before he could carry out his plans.  I am so thankful that people now are on the lookout for people who post things that could be a sign of a planned attack.  I also think that the law enforcement agents are having to be more alert and look for signs that people want to carry out mass murders.  I think that the L.A. area definitely escaped something that could have been very tragic.

    Anna Speer- Islamic leader appears

For the first time in five years, Abu Bakr al-Baghdidi, the leader of the Islamic State group appeared on video acknowledging defeat of the last stronghold they had in Syria. However, during the same video he claimed their group was responsible for the bombings in Sri Lanka as part of the revenge that awaits the West. During the same video he also called for followers to intensify attacks on France. Despite many of his top aids being killed, losing stronghold in Syria and allegedly his ailing health, this recent video was released to be a moral booster among the extremist factions. Was this a last ditch effort of a dying man and a rebellion regime? If so, why did I have to dig to find this information? If this is true it should be on the headliner on the nightly news......

Camille Cole - New Changes Coming for Asylum Laws

Camille Cole - New Changes Coming for Asylum Laws

Summary: Donald Trump has now announced a new plan that is directly targeting the nation’s laws about migrants coming and seeking asylum. It now requires that asylum applications must be adjudicated within 180 days, that there be a fee charged for asylum applications and work permits, and that migrants are barred from getting work authorization if they have or have attempted to enter the United States illegally in the past. It makes the process of applying for asylum significantly more difficult, cutting some migrants off from applying entirely due to the fees.

Analysis: This is absolutely disgusting to me. I don’t understand why people are so averse to people wanting to come here. I understand what some people see on terms of taxes, but honestly its not as big of an issue as everybody makes it seem to be. If people come to the border seeking asylum, then they should not be turned away. They should be allowed to enter this country. If somebody is fleeing something terrible behind them, then who are we to tell them that their problems don’t matter and then we treat them like absolute dirt when they are just as much of a human as us? This reminds me of when after slaves were freed and given the right to vote, they were still kept from voting by poll taxes and literacy tests which is doing essentially the same thing. History repeats.

Jordan Gillette- Somehow, measles, a disease easily exterminated by a vaccine, hits 25-year high. Wonder why?

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-48095761

Summary: On April 29th, 2019, BBC released an article on the recent alarming outbreak of measles, a disease once thought to be contained by vaccines, which has hit a 25-year high, infecting 700+ people in 2019 alone. No deaths have yet to be recorded at the expense of the outbreak, thankfully. A recent study came out stating that the disease have slithered its way into 22 states, and it mainly infects unvaccinated children. Interesting. Many officials have dubbed the outbreak as "completely avoidable", including our own President, Donald Trump, who encouraged the public to get the vaccines on Saturday, April 26th. It is highly encouraged that everyone goes to their local CVS or something and get their vaccines. Keep the kids safe.

Analysis: Oh my god the anti-vaxers are astronomically idiotic. Of course something like this would happen! This is WHY we created vaccines in the first place! It has been proven time and time again that vaccines are NOT, in ANY way shape or form, connected to autism. Autism in a genetic disorder that occurs either through multigene interactions or rare genetic mutations, scientists aren't sure, but they are definitely sure that it is not a developmental disorder, with piles upon piles of studies to back up that claim. Y'all, when we're older, if you choose to have kids, for the love of god, VACCINATE THEM. Before I read this article my entire generation and I have been bashing the stupidity of the anti-vaccine community, and now we're finally seeing the hair-raising consequences of not vaccinating children. These kids have to suffer on their parents' behalf. This article was written by the writing staff at BBC (no specific name was credited), and this article was written as a way to... inform the public? This can be related to the measles outbreaks of the 1800s and 1900s and the serious tolls the disease branded into American culture before there was a freaking vaccine for it.

Ellie Colwill - NASA may have detected a 'Marsquake' for the first time.

NASA's Mars Insight Mission has only been up and running for a couple of months now, but it has already come with tremendous results. On April 6, also the Insight lander's 128th day on mars, the Lander had recorded some tremblings that most likely came from the within the planet. According to analysis, we may have discovered our very first 'marsquake.' Although there are some cartoons about how the crust and the metallic core of mars looks like, Mark Panning states that they still don't know exactly how large the crust and the metallic core are.

In US History i would relate this to The Space Race. The race between Soviet Union and the US to show their achievements on their space exploration. During this race, Neil Armstrong became the first man to walk on the moon, relating to the idea that we found what might be the first 'marsquake.'

Within a few hours of this first attack there were a total of three explosion on that one Easter Sunday. The end effects of the terrorist attacks resulted in nearly 300 killed and man hundred more injured. The question still remains why exactly these attacks occurred, it is evident that this scum had something against the innocent people worshiping but a deeper explanation is needed.

Should Congress Try to Impeach President Trump? -Mathew Gabriel Hille

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/25/learning/should-congress-try-to-impeach-president-trump.html

On April 18th the Justice Department released a redacted version of an investigation involving trump and plausible russian connections. With all this controversy concerning Donald Trump there seem to be people who are leaning towards possible impeachment of Donald Trump. The only thing that these people have to consider now is whether or not there are actual problems with things Donald Trump does or a meer y a personal opinion.

Terror attack prevented in LA - Faith Wangermann

In an article by Jennifer Medina, published by the New York Times on April 29, 2019, an incident is detailed in which federal authorities in Los Angeles say that they "had thwarted a domestic terror plot by an American military veteran." The suspect was seeking retribution for the recent attacks in New Zealand and aimed to unleash an attack similar to the one in Las Vegas, especially targeting white nationalists, Jews, churches and military bases. The suspect was arrested Friday night. The people the suspect believed to be his collaborators were actually an undercover officer and a confidential informant. This operation is similar to those of the Cold War, with undercover officers uncovering secret plots of a force that was fiercely hated; then, communism; now, terrorism. Terrorism originating in our own country is as serious a problem as terrorism committed by immigrants.

School Bus Driver Who Raped 14-Year-Old Will Not Go to Prison -- Lily McCollum

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/30/nyregion/bus-driver-rape-watertown.html

Bus driver, Shane Piche, was convicted of taking a 14-year-old girl back to his house and raping her. Instead of being sent to prison, he was placed on a 10 year probation. He was also placed on the lowest level of the sex offender registry, saying that he is unlikely to do this again. There has been public outcry about leniency of the sentence, many people petitioning for the judge to be removed from his position. This case has also brought other cases of a similarly frustrating manner to the pubic view.

It is sick to see actions like this not being greatly punished, and the amount of people defending the choices made by the judge. It is time for people to have to pay the price for such horrible acts. Much slighter crimes are being punished much more heavily. The United States prison system has been so broken for so long and it is time for changes to be made.

This is both an issue of the broken legal system and women's rights. The punishment and decision making in cases seems to be very contradictory, and needs reform. Additionally, women have been fighting for their rights for years, and men being able to use them as objects does not help the cause.

    Violet Wiedemer- The Mueller Report

The investigation into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election has been silently simmering for years now until a few weeks ago, when William Barr revealed that the Muller report had made the statement “no conclusion”. People pushed for the full release of the Muller report and it eventually came out, making it very clear, even through the redactions Barr had made, that “no collusion” was far from true and while the report didn’t charge President Trump of any crimes, he was not exonerated.

This is reminiscent of the Watergate scandal- Richard Nixon was not directly involved in the break in to the Watergate year quarters, rather the cover-up. Nixon would have eventually been impeached had he not resigned from office. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theatlantic.com/amp/article/588259/

    Zander Pryor-Roy Moore

People in politics, particularly those previously involved in controversies, rarely fade away quietly. More often than not, they burn out with the passion of supernovas. Indeed, this appears the case of Roy Moore. He is arguably the reason why there is a Democrat currently representing Alabama in the Senate. He has proven to be incredibly controversial both then and now, given all of his educations of sexual misconduct towards women who were teenagers at the time. After losing his bid, he has kept busy, even teasing a 2020 presidential run. However, that will have to be after his court case. He is currently suing Conan for defamation. He was on for an interview when conan waved a wand over him, proclaiming that it detected perpetrators of sexual assault. The wand beeped.
This reminds me of countless cases as of late. The first one off the top of my head is Samantha Bee apologizing for calling Ivanka Trump a "feckless c**t". With the insane era occurring in front of our eyes, it can feel like comedy writes itself. However, political comedy is always risky and walks a thin thin line which I suspect is why Samantha Bee apologized so promptly. However, in this case, Roy Moore is likely guilty of what he was accused of which might contribute to why there was a court case instead of an apology.

Ryan Mecca | In California, Home to Many Hate Groups, Officials Struggle to Spot the Next Threat

*I just realized that I did the exact same article as Martina oopsie...I did not cheat!*

More and more terrorists are taking inspiration from the attacks made by others to create their own plans of attack. This is typically done through social media, making it easier for the FBI to receive tips regarding possible attacks. The attackers have begun to act more quickly after the "inspiration," making it harder for authorities to act quickly enough. The FBI actually received a tip a few minutes before the San Diego synagogue shooting, but it was too late for them to prevent it. California has the highest number of attacks, with the hate only increasing. While the great diversity of the inhabitants of California has made many feel as though they are more tolerated, some feel as though it has "fueled a sense of alienation and threat."
This past year in particular has seen a multitude of attacks on places of worship, and as mentioned before, an increased number of these attacks are inspired by others. The authors of this article, Shaila Dewan and Ali Winston, want to connect with Americans, particularly those living in California, to bring awareness to the impact they can have and the lives they can save if they were to report possible terrorism plans on social media to authorities.
After the September 11, 2001, terrorist attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the USA Patriot Act was passed, allowing federal officers to have more authority when it comes to tracking and intercepting communications. This legislature was created as a way to prevent more attacks by terrorists. The ability for the FBI to receive and act on the social media tips used to prevent several recent attacks is created because of the passing of the USA Patriot Act.

49ers draft pick saves man's daughter~ Alle' Holloway

Dad thanks San Francisco 49ers draft pick Dre Greenlaw for ‘risking everything’ to save daughter

    https://www.foxnews.com/sports/dad-san-francisco-49ers-draft-pick-dre-greenlaw-for-save-daughter

    Summary:
Dre Greenlaw, a 21-year-old fifth-round pick, was an underage freshman attending a “kegger” where Gerry Dales said his daughter had become incapacitated. An unfamiliar man “slipped something in her drink. And when that guy tried to steer my daughter out the front door, he stopped the guy and said, ‘She's not going anywhere.’"Which saved his daughters life. The father did not want to mention it publicly before because Greenlaw was underage and did not want him to receive backlash so he waited some years to properly thank him.

    Analysis:
The article was written by Stephen Sorace and published April 29th. The actual event occured some time ago, time period not clear, and the father of the victim wanted to send a proper thank you to the 49ers draft pick. This event reminds me of the situation that just occured last week when a women got into a argument and a man, dressed in a bunny suit, hopped in to help defend the women. The article is displaying the mans tweets in hope to make individuals who see injustice do something about it. It also shows men should play apart in protecting women if they are defenseless.

Trump introduces sweeping changes to asylum in memo- Elton Tankersley

The article talks about a memo that Trump sent out that goes over changes to the Asylum process that include, requiring a fee for asylum applications, and work permit applications among other things. I think this is an incredibly bad thing to do, I think there is a conversation that could be had about the relative merits of cracking down on Asylum seekers, but all that imposing a fee will do is bar people who really need help from getting it.

The article is written during a time where President Trump is trying all he can to pass some sort of border "crackdown" before the 2020 election. This was written for people looking for info on what Trump is doing. This was written by Priscilla Alvarez, and while some of the language could be read in an almost passive-aggressive way it does not affect the accuracy of the article. This is important because everything Trump does now could have an impact on the 2020 election so he is frantically trying to fulfill campaign promises in a way that doesn't address them fully.

In California, Home to Many Hate Groups, Officials Struggle to Spot the Next Threat- Martina D'Orso

California is one of the states with the most organized hate groups in the whole United States, with almost any kind of hate group you could think of. However, the shooter of the synagogue in San Diego was not part of any of these groups. Like many other hate crime committers, the shooter of the synagogue in San Diego was a no one, someone who emerged out of practically nowhere after being targeted online and basically convinced to see others in a different way. Monitoring social media, however, is tricky because of our First Amendment right of Freedom of Speech. This impairs the FBI's ability to track terroristic threats and other potential dangers because of the inability to filter these comments.
The article was written by Shaila Dewan and Ali Winston on April 29, 2019. Before reading the article I had heard about hate crimes such as the San Diego ones and I knew about the people who committed these crimes. However, I did not know how hard it was to regulate the extent of the reach these negative societies have on people on the internet. We can relate this to the New Zealand Mosque Shooting where the perpetrator was also grasped by White Supremacists over the internet. With social media being available to everyone, the world has become much more unsafe with chances of things like these happening with no regulation. Although the FBI should try and regulate these occurrences they also have to make sure they don't impose on First Amendment rights.

"Dems to hold first-ever hearing on Medicare for All, as progressives fear 'deliberation theater' farce" -- Youssef Bakr

Democrats have scheduled a meeting for Tuesday, April 30, regarding the progression of Medicare for All, which, if passed, would quite possibly be the single worst governmental action for the economy in modern American history. The plan, which would "provide coverage for 'all people living in the U.S.,'" within two years, has an estimated cost of $32.6 trillion over the next 10 years. Just to remind you, the national budget for 2018 fiscal year was $3.654 trillion. Even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, asked: "How do you pay for that?" Good question, Mrs. Pelosi, very good question, indeed. The best summation of this plan's effect on the nation, in my opinion, is concisely worded as: "This plan would bankrupt the country in seconds."

Historical connection: either New Deal or Affordable Care Act.

    Chemical plant ~ Stephannie Hernandez

    Stephannie Hernandez
    8th silver

    Summary ~
District Attorney’s Office in Houston filed five environmental charges on Monday against a petrochemical plant, where a fire burned for four days. It sent late quantities of highly toxic chemicals into Tucker Bayou. The water pollution rose up at criminal levels, causing public health to be at risk. Swallowing or breathing this toxic chemicals could led to death and other severe symptoms.

    Analysis~
Place and time: happened March 17-21 and now filed the charges April 29,2019
Prior knowledge: I had no idea this had happened, it is highly dangerous to leave the fire up for 5 days risking people’s lives. This was an incredibly dangerous event that took place and I know they could control the fire, it still puts people in danger. Some schools cancelled (and closed nearby schools) their after school activities due to the fire which is really good thing to look out for students health.

Defense Department agrees to send approximately 320 personnel to US southern border- Nik Puri

On Monday, Patrick Shanahan, the Acting Secretary of Defense, approved a Department of Homeland Security request that granted additional support at the U.S-Mexico border. This request for more support came after data showed there were more apprehensions on the border in any other month in the current decade. As of right now there are more than 3,000 active duty troops and 2,000 National Guard personnel deployed on the US-Mexico border.

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/29/politics/dod-personnel-us-southern-border/index.html

This article was published by Kate Sullivan and Barbara Starr on April 29 and was updated at 7:18 PM ET. This implies that the information provided in the article is accurate. After reading this article, it's safe to say that tensions are increasing between Mexico and the US. This article is futhermore, targeted towards the citizens residing in the United States with the purpose of serving as an update for current information at the southern U.S. border. Finally, I believe that this article is important because it serves as a reminder that tensions come and go, but it all comes down to the action taken at the end.

AntiVaxers and Measles Outbreak- Sophie Knox

    Source: https://roguerocket.com/2019/04/25/cdc-reports-largest-u-s-measles-outbreak-since-2000/

Summary: This year, the CDC has reported that the number of measles outbreaks has been the highest since it was eradicated in 2000. They said that these outbreaks happened in 22 states affecting at least 695 people. Most recently, NYC responded to the outbreak from banning unvaccinated children from public places after their small outbreak. In NYC, the outbreak was mostly in the Orthodox Jewish community and some people are worried that the city will target them. Measles is an easily spreading disease that spreads through air that causes fevers and rashes. It is easily prevented by vaccines. To help gain support for vaccinations, the CDC is planning on launching a full campaign.

Analysis: Personally, I find it really stupid that condone wouldn’t vaccinate their kid. Before vaccines, there were versions horrible diseases that killed people but now we are privileged to have them and use them to help us live longer. There is a very very very very slim chance that the vaccine will have any harmful side effects too. You have a bigger risk of getting hurt by stepping into a car than you do getting vaccinated. I can relate this to u.s history through how the native Americans contracted diseases from Europeans because they hadn’t been introduced to them yet.

    https://roguerocket.com/2019/04/25/cdc-reports-largest-u-s-measles-outbreak-since-2000/

The CDC reported that this year we have reported a higher rate of the measles outbreak, breaking a record since 2000. The outbreaks have affected over 600 people in 22 states, that's an alarming rate. Many states like NY are banning unvaccinated people in public places. The CDC is planning a full campaing to gain support for vaccines.

Measles are a preventable disease that is passed through the air, the only reason people are not vaccinating themselves and their children is because they believe vaccines are the cause of autism. these are very stupid reasons for not vaccinating your child honestly.

This relates to the columbian exchange and how the europeans exchaged diseases that wiped out many of the native americans because they didn't have the immune system to handle something that big but also there was no development of vaccines. Because of vaccines we have developed a stronger immune system.

Terror Attack Thwarted In LA -- Rose Tharp

Martin Steven Domingo, an Afghanistan veteran was caught buying and attempting to make bombs to be deployed in places like Huntington beach and the Santa Monica Pier. In U.S. history, undercover operatives have been a vital part of operations, even to the time of the american revolution when soldiers or the sons of liberty went undercover as British Soldiers to gain information and make the revolution successful. Hercules Mulligan, saved the life of George Washington by working as a tailor for the British army, learning of a plot to assassinate him. This officer who went undercover and found the potential bomber save the lives of those who could've been hit by 3 inch nails that would've been launched from the bomb.

San Diego synagogue attack suspect 'evil', says his family - Savannah Ghermay

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-48096197

On Saturday, April 27th, 19 year old John Earnest walked into a San Diego Synagogue and stated shooting innocent worshipers, presumably because they were Jewish. Earnest's parents claim they raised their son in a loving home and have no idea why he would ever want to do something so awful.

This article makes me wonder what compels a young person to enter a place of worship or any public place and indiscriminately kill people. How does someone develop such hate and anger? Can we prevent this? Can we prevent such radicalization? Is it possible to prevent these people from getting guns?

Sophia Zhukova - World premiere of the "Chernobyl" mini-TV show

“There are no monsters in our series, so we won’t be able to stretch it for eight seasons,” joked producer and playwright Craig Mazin at the world premiere of the new mini-series Chernobyl. The first two segments were shown at the 18th annual Tribebek International Film Festival in one of the halls of the spectacular Spring Studios on Varick Street in Lower Manhattan. The premiere is dedicated to the 33rd anniversary of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. The story of the disaster that occurred on April 26, 1986, is told in the genre of a technological thriller with the participation of famous actors Jared Harris, Emily Watson and Stellan Skarsgard. It was shot by Swedish director Johan Renck (Johan Renck) by order of the American cable TV channel HBO and the British communication corporation Sky TV. The first open night of the five-part film is scheduled for May 6th. The show of this TV project on Tribec was another eloquent manifestation of the festival's expansion into the adjacent areas of visual arts and communications, including TV, streaming platforms and virtual reality programs.

It is really an important thing that happened in history. It is one of the most terrible disasters. When I'm imagining what was happening at the time during this accident my heart just breaks. I am so glad for people who could escape their homes and move from there, but anyway they all have health issues foe now and probably will never be able to get rid of them. But also it is hard to think about that many people could not make it in time and they just died because of radiation. And not only people suffered but animals too. But people could run away, and many animals didn't even realize what was happening and died because of huge amount of radiation. I am so glad to hear that people from the whole world remember about it and even made a TV show about it, I think it is really important to show all the struggles and horrors.

    California shooting Sally north

On April 29th, a 19 year old opened fire on a synagogue, injuring 3 and killing a woman. The FBI received a tip about the attack occurring minutes before the attack occurred, so they were unable to stop the horrendous act. Luckily, a man charged the shooter, causing him to flee and eventually call and confess to the police.

This was not the only shooting to happen that day, in fact 4 other shootings with multiple injuries or death occurred the same day.  The US has been debating gun control for decades, and the fact that multiple shootings can occur in a day with only one being widely known about should be a concern to all.

Maria Golici - Hundred Acre Wood

The beautiful park that was inspired by the classic childhood stories and movies, Winne the Pooh came to a sad end. Ashwood Forest in Sussex County, United Kingdom which is where the park was based had caught fire unexpectedly Sunday night. The fire reached a huge size with not enough workers to tame it quickly. The forest was once home to author A.A Milne and was a space used to hunt deer but is now under wildlife protection. The fire not only hurt the make believe characters of Winne the Pooh but the wildlife that inhabit the space. Its believed that many of them were able to escape and find shelter. Don't freak out though the forest should begin regrowing grass in about four weeks and by six months you should not even be able to tell anything happened.

In the year of 2018 many forest fires occurred through the United States. They are always a tragic sight to encounter and we are thankful for the workers that work to put out the fires safely. We hope to see the Hundred Acre wood rebuilt and back to its normal tourist attraction.

    Impeachment Talk

On April 18, the Justice Department released a redacted version of the special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report on his investigation into both Russia’s interference in the 2016 election and President Trump’s efforts to curve that very investigation. According to the analysis ofMatt Apuzzo and Adam Goldman, they report of more than 400 pages that painted a deeply unflattering picture of Trump but stopped short of accusing him of criminal wrong doing. After hearing this, democrats are pushing for impeachment.

However, Matt had many supporters behind him.

Sports Illustrated features first burkini girl - Savannah Ghermay

    https://www.bbc.com/news/48071948

Although Sports Illustrated is a magazine about sports, once a year, they create a swimsuit issue of the magazine and place a woman in a bikini on the front cover. Recently, Sports Illustrated has introduced their first Muslim model in a burkini, a swimsuit that is meant to cover the whole body for modesty.

I'm against the idea that women must wear hijabs by law as is the custom in some middle eastern countries. I feel that anybody should be able to wear what they want. However, in the United States, there is freedom of religion and freedom of speech. If this woman chooses to wear her hijab, it's her prerogative. If Sports Illustrate chooses to put her on the cover, as far as i'm concerned, it's an inclusive gesture and I support it.

The Measles are Back because of Anti-Vax Culture- Gabriel Allen

'Completely avoidable' measles outbreak hits 25-year high in US

There has been a recent and alarming outbreak of measles, a disease once thought to be contained by vaccines, which has hit a 25-year high, infecting over 700 people in 2019 alone. No deaths have yet to be recorded at the expense of the outbreak, thankfully. A recent study came out stating that the disease has slithered its way into 22 states, and it mainly infects unvaccinated children. Interesting. Many officials have dubbed the outbreak as "completely avoidable", including our own President, Donald Trump, who encouraged the public to get the vaccines on Saturday, April 26th. It is highly encouraged that everyone goes to their local CVS and get their vaccines.

Personally, I find it really stupid that condone wouldn’t vaccinate their kid. Before vaccines, there were versions of horrible diseases that killed people but now we are privileged to have them and use them to help us live longer. There is a very very very very slim chance that the vaccine will have any harmful side effects too. You have a bigger risk of getting hurt by stepping into a car than you do get vaccinated. I can relate this to u.s history through how the native Americans contracted diseases from Europeans because they hadn’t been introduced to them yet.

emma myers-Places Of Worship Are Increasingly Becoming Targets Of Extremist Violence

    link
This interview talks about a shooting recently in a synagogue, and our author interviews J.M.Berger, a specialist on reading and analyzing extremist manifestos. Berger disproves some common misconceptions about shootings, for example, they are almost never just a "lone wolf", but are typically aware of the media they will get and have a team behind them (metaphorically) moving them to commit the act. This is such a terrible situation, but when hearing so much about shootings and the effects, the shooter is never really acknowledged as to having some sort of background. For me personally, it makes the subject way more interesting to learn about.

Since shootings have only been happening quite recently, I have no way to relate this to history other than the blunt white supremacy, which the article mentions as the broader ideology at hand. The reason that this is happening is the same reason many events of a similar nature have occurred in the past, and this only goes to show that history repeats itself and will keep doing so until we, as the general public, understand the issue and fight against it (and when these shooters stop being crazy)

United Airlines covers controversial seatback cameras- Yesenia Ramirez Monroy

Recently the United Airlines announced that cameras that are located behind each seat will be covered. A spokeswoman than said that the cameras were never taken into use and weren't activated, but that they came included with the manufactured chairs. They also said that in the future they might use it to make video calls, but it hasn't been properly confirmed yet. This was discovered by a passenger in Singapore Airlines in February, when looking at the inflight monitor. They said that these were found on the newer planes and the airline said on Twitter that cameras were in "selected Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class."

This article was written by Michael Hollan on April 29,2019 with the purpose of informing citizens who might take a flight some time soon and could take this into thought. The United Airlines may have taken this person's comment into consideration and towards others that might think that the government might be watching them and decided to take action. They might of also done this with the purpose to avoid people saying that they are being violated their little privacy that they get when on an airplane. This correlates to U.S. history with the creation of the 4th amendment on December 15,1791 which protects people from searching their homes and private property without a search warrant. This was written by James Madison, the "Father of the Constitution" in 1789 as one of the first 10 amendments known as the Bill of Rights.

    California Synagogue Shooting- Kennedy Hannible

On Saturday, Poway Synagogue was disturbed by a gunman open fire during a service on the last day of Passover. A 60-year-old woman was killed, a rabbi was shot in the hand, and two other people were left wounded. A 19-year-old man armed with an AR-15 stormed into Chabad of Poway synagogue yelling anti-Semitic slurs, the synagogue ws more full since it was a holiday. Lori Gilbert Kaye was shot as she prepared to say the tradtional prayer for the dead in honor of her mother. The gunman left the building after his weapon malfunctioned, and surrendered to the police a short time after. The amount of anti-Semitic shootings this year is disturbing and is poisning the world. We are living in fear to go to our places of worship and school. This has to stop now or it will only get worse.

'Completely avoidable' measles outbreak hits 25-year high in US - Savannah Ghermay

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-48095761

There has been a huge outbreak of measles. Measles is a disease that has been considered eradicated in the United States. However, because people travel to the U.S. From different countries, it's not uncommon to have a few cases every year. The U.S. secretary of Health and Human Services claims that this is a completely avoidable issue, and referenced parents who won't vaccinate their children because of the idea that vaccines cause diseases such as autism. There is no objective scientific evidence that proves this.

Not only is this an issue for the unvaccinated children, this also causes problems for other people in the country because of the spread of disease. Although the blame can be easily set on those who refuse to vaccinate their children, we must also consider the fact that there are many articles, news channels and other sources that provide false information that causes others to believe in something that hasn't been scientifically proven. I feel that it's important to aggressively convince people to talk to real scientists or doctors, and not people who make it their business to lie.

Maria Golici - Don't judge a book by its cover

Three friends Jamario Howard, JaMychol Baker, and Tae Knight were out one night getting food from Brads in Oxford, Alabama when they spotted a woman eating food all alone. They felt so bad for her that decided to ask her to sit with them. She gladly agreed and moved to sit with the boys. The boys learned a lot of valuable lessons that night. The woman had lost her husband and that their 60th anniversary would have been tomorrow. The key take away that the friends walked away with was go visit your mother and grandparents because they miss and never judge a book by their cover because you never know their story. They took a picture together and they all walked away knowing they had a great night.

Treating someone with kindness has always been an important thing and continues to show its necessity in the world. Through kindness we learn things about one another and learn to have a respect for one another. So kindness is key and you should always have it.

This reminds me of when president nixon tried to use executive privilege to withhold information about the watergate scandal.

Army veteran charged with plotting terror attacks in LA area

    Kristen Ramirez

As we may know our country is crazy and eventful, well recently a 24 yr old former U.S Army soldier who served in Afghanistan has been charged with plotting terror attacks in the L.A area near Long Beach at a rally. Law Enforcement was able to identify the man connected to the hate crime that was towards muslims and jewish people.

This is related to history because events like this have played a big role in society. Unfortunately history does repeat itself just like people say hopefully one day it won't stay like this but as of now this is the world we live in.

During a visit by a United Nations delegation to China about the Belt and Road initiative, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres approached President Xi Jinping and raised the issue of the quarantined Uighur population in China's Xinjiang province.  The Uighur people in the Xinjiang province of western China have been pushed into "reeducation camps", with those imprisoned numbering upwards of one million people.  However, China claims that these people are "murderous devils" adhering to the "absurd preachings" from Islamic extremists.

This article was written by Reuters, who have consistently covered the human rights violations ongoing in Xinjiang.  I believe this event to be an absolute outrage, especially for, in a province with twenty million people, for 5% of that to be imprisoned for mere suspicion of participation in terrorist activities.  These absolute bogus lockups remind me of the imprisonment of thousands of children and families at the border, due in no small part to accusations of those immigrants being rapists and murderers, much like the harmful accusations made against the Uighur people being terrorists.

Screen time for kids under 2 more than doubles, study finds - Karsyn Kelly

Studies have shown that screen time for children over 2 has more than doubled over the last 20 years. As more technology has become available such as, smartphones and tablets along with more kid friendly content, younger kids are gaining more access and spending more time on their devices. The article talks about part of this being an easy fix for parents to keep their kids occupied while they get other things around the house, specifically single parents or low socioeconomic families. While this is understandable, there is also research that shows how too much screen time, and lack of family time can negatively affect a young child’s development. Since their brain is still developing, sitting in front of a screen and not interacting with the world can cause problems in the future for children.

This is definitely a good topic to think about since many of my friends and I use our phones and technology for many different purposes every day. The article only talks about very young children, but it makes me wonder how this could affect older children and every people my age. It also makes me consider how much things could change by the time I have kids in future and if it will be even harder to keep kids away from technology at a young age.

"No place is safe" An interpretation of CNN article by Adelaide Willert

"She was at the synagogue to mourn her mother. She was killed while protecting the rabbi"

**Note: the article above is being constantly updated in order to keep readers up to date with the conditions of those injured and in intensive care.

The CNN article I read this week covered the shooting in a California synagogue this Sunday. Much of the article discusses the shooting and the individuals who were victims in it, as well as the suspects and the overall effects of the shooting on the community.

Antisemitism is something that should have been entirely eradicated with the fall of Hitler after the Holocaust and World War 2. It should have been, but it hasn't. Why this hatred for a person or a group of people exists, I will never understand. But what I do understand is that in our world, it is being implemented systematically, just like racism. We are getting used to the headlines that tell us that there has been another attack on people of colour or Muslim people or people of a certain denomination of faith. We are getting used to scrolling past it and thinking 'Oh, that's sad. That's not okay.' We are getting used to knowing inside us that it isn't okay, but not doing anything to stop it. This is something that as a global community we need to work towards: putting an end to the things that do not have a place in our world.

    Cyclone Kenneth-- By Diya Ghayal

Summary: In Mozambique, the death toll from the tropical cyclone has risen to 38. This has been the strongest storm to hit the lands since "records" began. Over the next five days or so, forecasters stated that there could be more than 20 inches of rainfall, that can later on lead to excessive flooding. This slow-moving storm, is the second to hit Southeast Africa in five weeks, and will cause even more damage due to the short time between the two cyclones. Helicopters have been flying in the area for the past few days, trying to find a way to deliver necessary survival supplies, and to help people reach safety.

Analysis: This article was produced yesterday and was last updated at 12:19 p.m on Monday, April 29, 2019. This means that the article is up to date and the information is mainly accurate. THis article could be related to other cyclones and hurricanes that have caused a lot of damage. Examples include Hurricane Harvey in Houston, TX, Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane sandy, etc. This article was probably produced to target adults, hurricane survivors, those in Southeast Africa, etc. This article was made to keep the world aware of current natural disasters, and the extend of destruction they are causing. Without this article, I would have been unaware of the catastrophe happening in Southeast Africa, and of the people suffering.

Alex Carrington- Are Russians Using Whales As Spies?

Today, April 26, 2019, James Rogers from Fox News reported that a white Beluga Whale has been spotted in the waters of the Norwegian Arctic. Now in any other circumstance this would sound completely normal; however, the whale was caught wearing a Russian-made harness. Norwegian officials suspect that the animal may be a spy that escaped form a Russian military facility.

In the past, there has been many espionage occurrences between nations, such as the U-2 Plane incident.

This isn't exactly a US current event, but I don't want anyone to miss the opportunity to see a Beluga Whale in a harness.

Mekinna Knight- Valedictorian Coming Out Speech

This week's current event I feel has spoke numbers in the movement of equal rights. A student, graduating from his college as Valedictorian, used his opportunity of his grand speech to come out. Not only was this a big surprise in general, but what was more astonishing was that he performed this act for the graduating class of a Mormon school. The valedictorian chose to open up about his sexualityduring his convocation speech at Brigham Young University, saying it was "important to share both for myself and the LGBTQ+ community at BYU" Brigham Young University was founded by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The university's honor code says that while "same-gender attraction is not an Honor Code issue," the school has a "strict commitment to the law of chastity." "Homosexual behavior is inappropriate and violates the Honor Code," the university policy reads. "Homosexual behavior includes not only sexual relations between members of the same sex, but all forms of physical intimacy that give expression to homosexual feelings." Easton told CNN affiliate KUTV he felt more support than he ever had before. And while not everyone applauded his announcement, Easton stands by his decision. He continued to exclaim to reporters that he just  felt that he needed to do it. The graduate wrapped up his political science degree with a 4.0 GPA -- and thousands of supporters rallying behind him. Earlier this month, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reversed its policies regarding blessings and baptisms for children whose parents are a part of the LGBT+ community. They can now be baptized at 8 years old, instead of waiting until they are 18.

    Synagogue Shooting -Madison Malonson

On the 27th a synagogue in Poway, California was shot up. One woman was killed and others , including the rabbi, were injured. The crime is being being addressed as yet another anti Semitic terrorist attack. The shooter opened fire during a service on the last day of Passover, a Jewish holiday.
The suspect is a 19 year old, who used an AR-15 riffle and yelled anti Semitic slurs. This is yet another of the recent attacks on places of worship. When will be able to go somewhere that we are disposed to feel safe without the threat of a gun shot wound. It is time to stand up and take action on and pass common sense gun control. We can not afford anymore lives.

    Leslie Vasquez- Synagogue Shooting

As of recent, there has been another shooting during worship. In Poway, California, 19-year-old John Earnest opened fire in a synagogue, killing one person and injuring three people. The rabbi, Yisroel Goldstein, witnessed the whole event. He saw fear and danger in a place that should be safe and peaceful. This attack coincides with other anti-Semitic shootings, such as the attack on the synagogue in Pittsburgh and mosques in New Zealand. Goldstein believes that the U.S. government should recognize that these types of shootings are a new reality and increase security in places of worship.

Nobody should have to die in a place of worship. People who follow a religion should be able to attend their place of worship without the fear of being killed.

    Anti-Semitic Shooting -Cleo Chaney

    original Article: https://www.npr.org/2019/04/28/718043171/poway-shooting-latest-in-series-of-attacks-on-places-of-worship

On Saturday, during the Passover service at Poway synagogue, a gunman killed one person and injured three. It's the latest in a series of hate crimes in places of worship and shows the tensions between different groups of people existing today.

The shooter was a 19-year old nursing student. I read the manifesto that it is said he had written and what I found was this: He believes that Jewish people are masterminding the "genocide"of what he calls "the European race." And he believes every single Jewish person is partially responsible for this; he says they "act as a unit." To completely demonize and alienate an entire ethnicity seems crazy, but his feeling about Jewish people is not unique, and anti-semitism has been moving back into the spotlight these past few years, though I don't believe it ever disappeared. He cites the death of Simon of Trent, a child who was suspected to be killed by a Jewish family that led to the arrest of every Jewish person in the 1475 city and the torture and murder of eight Jewish people and a mythic lie about Jews that has been used against them all throughout history.

It's radical. It's putting Jewish people in the role of scapegoat again. It sounds ridiculous, but it's serious, serious enough that people kill for it.

I can only hope that no other awful, evil racist is inspired by this man's actions, and that every one can stay safe while still having the freedom to practice their own faiths. I can also hope for gun control to stop arms from entering the hands of men like this.

Courtney McColley - How did the Notre-Dame fire happen?

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/25/world/europe/notre-dame-fire-investigation.html
Over a week after the catastrophic fire that took place in France, investigators are still looking for a cause of the fire. Last Thursday, police investigators were allowed inside the cathedral to search for clues. They have come to two theories as to how it happened: a short-circut near its spire or negligence of renovation workers, indicated by the discovery of cigarette butts.
The burning down of Notre-Dame is so sad because the cathedral had been standing for 759 years and was a symbolic landmark in Paris for Christians. When news of the fire first started spreading, many assumed it was a terrorist or Brexit protest attack, so it's relieving knowing that it wasn't a purposeful act of hate. However, it is very upsetting that such a large-scale accident could occur and that it will take so long o rebuild it.

    Trump and his lies-ryian Johnson

Apparently Donald j trump has told over 10,011 lies within his last 3 years as a president. This reminds me as McCarthism because he spread rumors that weren’t true.
Terror Attack Thwarted in Los Angeles- Gracie Zytynski

This article, written by Jennifer Medina published by the New York Times discusses that on Monday federal authorities have spoken about a thwarted domestic terror plot by an American military veteran. Additionally, it was aimed toward multiple places in Southern California, including Huntington Beach. The suspect, Mark Steven Domingo, has recently attacked mosques in New Zealand. The suspect has also spoken of aiming to attack Las Vegas; however, he was arrested Friday night after he thought he had received a bomb instead, it was an explosive that was delivered by an undercover law enforcement officer. This connects with the Cold War because officers were uncovering things towards communism, which is similar to terrorism in the present day.

Shooting at California Synagogue -Paige McManaman

One woman killed, and three injured, including the synagogue's rabbi, at the shooting at a California synagogue on April 29, 2019.  The worshippers at the synagogue were worshipping there for celebrating and praising the last day of Passover. The woman that was killed is named to be Lori Gilbert-Kaye and the shooter was John Earnest, 19. The police also said that the shooter is being suspected to be involved with a mosque arson last month. This is truly devastating due to the fact that one of their most important holidays and praising was ruined by this horrible incident. I hope this never happens again... It is sad though that I have a feeling that it might.

Seattle Construction Falls Killing 4 People - Sloan Daley

A giant construction crane collapsed onto a busy downtown Seattle street, killing 4 people. Officials in Washington state are expected to release the identities on Monday of the 4 people killed when a construction crane crashed from a Seattle building. Right now the latest information about who died that Saturday afternoon was one female and three males. No one expected the loss of these four when the crane crashed onto one of Seattle’s busiest streets. Unfortunately, the crane fell from a building under construction on Google’s new Seattle campus onto Mercer Street. All four people had died by the time firefighters arrived Saturday afternoon. Two of the victims were ironworkers who had been inside the crane while the other two were inside a car. The only name that has been released is Sarah Wong, a freshman student at Seattle Pacific University. Everyone who knew the victims are grieving, and the media is working out details of the deaths and the names they are preparing to release.

    My Source

This reminds me of the accident that happened in October of 2018. This was another construction acid dent in Dallas. A construction site crashed and fell just like the crane, however luckily no one died. People were trapped for hours until rescuers saved them from the site. Construction accidents are actually quite common. Sadly many people have lost their lives because of construction accidents like these.

Cathy Huynh - Whales trained by Russia's military may be harassing fishermen from NATO ally Norway

Summary: Norwegian fishermen and scientists say that a white whale tied with an unusual harness that harassed boats in the Artic may have been trained by Russia's army. Russia has acknowledged training sea mammals for operations in the Artic where it has a military base not far from key member of NATO, Norway. "We know that in Russia they have had domestic whales in captivity and also that some of these have apparently been released," Audun Rikardsen, a professor of marine biology at the Arctic University of Norway, told NRK according to The Guardian. The Cold War-era Soviet Union had a program to train dolphins to help detect underwater weapons and alert their trainers. That program lasted until the 1990's.

Analysis: This article was posted without an author listed on April 29, 2019. This article is trustworthy, because it's from a major news website. I can connect this to the arms race between the U.S. and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. This article is meant to have a negative influence on the audience for the perhaps poor treatment of these animals. This article was written, because this whale was disturbing ships irritably. This article is important, because Russia could still be bitter about the Cold War.

Daniela rodriguez - A man has been arrested after $16,000 sculpture was taken from NYC gallery in broad daylight

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/04/27/us/sculpture-theft-nyc/index.html

In broad daylight, a man stole an entire 16,000 dollar sculpture from a new your city gallery, and honestly, that's quite a feat, but it proves how necessary it is for law enforcement to improve itself. This man in broad daylight, anybody could have seen him, but alas, nobody did see him pick up an entire sculpture and steal it.

O’Rourke on impeaching trump -Paola Aceves

Beto O’Rourke recently spoke on his opinion on impeaching Trump. He claims that this is a decision to make as a country and that democrats should look past short term consequences. He says the future of the “worlds greatest democracy” are at stake. He believes that if we do not take a stand because of fear, that we prove that people in a position of power are above the law.

Impeachment is not something that is commonly used. If we were to impeach him it would be due to a lot of evidence. O’Rourke is fighting for politicians to find the evidence we need to get Trump out of office.
Tampax introduces its first organic tampon- adriana chavez

    https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/21/business/tampon-organic-tampax-pure/index.html

In response to a demand of more eco-friendly ways for women to deal with menstruation, Tampax launched a new organic tampon line that are plant based, and free of dyes, bleaches and fragrances. These new products are also said to provide the same amount of protection as regular tampons. Organic tampons, reusable menstruation cups, and period proof underwear are a few of the innovative ways to cut down on the millions of tons of plastic waste that derives from plastic applicators. Several companies are now pledging to produce eco friendly products, and to aid young women to provide them with period related products.

The prior knowledge I had to this article is that I knew about the innovations companies are starting to introduce to reduce environmental pollution. The invention of a reusable applicator, cloth pads, menstruation cups, and organic tampons have been in stores for the past decade. However, with the current pollution crisis, consumers are now wanting to limit their impact on the environment. Luckily, the sales of these eco-friendly products towards women have increased the past year, and will reduce the amount of plastic waste going into our landfills and oceans.

    SYNAGOGUE SHOOTING - AYSHA JACKSON

    https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/28/us/synagogue-shooting-chabad-poway.html

During a Saturday service at a synagogue named the Chabad of Poway. The rabbi of the church was half was through service he heard a loud crack ring throughout his church. He says when he turned he saw a 60 year old woman slumped on the ground and seven small children near a doorway. He wanted to help the woman but he knew he had to get the children to safety. The man who committed this heinous crime is by the name of John Earnest , 19.

I will never begin to understand why or how someone could have so much anger in their heart to the point of hurting another human being. This is supposed to be the land of the free!

That leads me into my synthesis. When the Declaration of Independence was created and the Bill of Rights was ratified it gave people certain rights , and if you're American you should uphold those rights no matter who the person is. That is the whole point of living in America , being able to be you without being persecuted. We need to get back to those morals of America.
    Joe Biden newest democratic candidate

    Caden Dickinson

Joe Biden has officially had launched his bid for the democratic presidential nomination. He will be up against many candidates who consist of Beto and Elizabeth Warren. Biden is 76 and from Delaware, he served in Congress for over thirty years and has run two passed presidential campaigns and served under Obama as Vice President during his terms in the White House.

Suspect in deadly San Diego synagogue shooting linked to mosque arson fire: Source - Dillon Quicksall

The suspected Gunman who supposedly shot up a synagogue during passover has also been identified as a suspected arsonist who set fire to yet another mosque. The gunman's name is supposedly John Earnest, who the authorities have reason to believe is a white supremacist who was inspired by the Cristchurch shooting in New Zealand.
This just continues to expose the frightening trend of hate crimes and gun violence in America that has continued to get worse and worse as time goes on. The fact that things like this can go unnoticed so easily in society is perhaps more frightening. Even if the accused gunman is actually innocent and has been wrongfully thrust into the spotlight, the message we have to gain remains the same: there is clearly a great deal of hatred and bigotry still eft in society, and we need to take it upon ourselves to rid us of it.

Former Vice President Joe Biden 'probably the leader' in South Carolina among Democratic 2020 contenders: Rep. James Clyburn - Dillon Quicksall

Joe Biden, the former vice president of the United States, is polling far ahead of the other democratic candidates in the extremely-divided presidential election. Despite the issues of his disreguard for personal space when it comes to women that disrupted his initial momentum, he seems to have bounced back, and it appears that he will most likely win unless another candidate suddenly sees a massive swing in popularity. The Only candidates that are close to him in popularity are Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg.
This will be very interesting to watch play out. If Joe Biden were to win, then it would be him, one of the most universally beloved Democrats of our generation, go up against Donald Trump, who has had historically low approval ratings throughout his entire presidency.

NASA and FEMA are practicing what would happen if an asteroid hits the Earth - Joziah German

NASA and FEMA are not taking chances when it comes to extraterrestrial threats on Earth. They believe you can never be too careful, and have recently come together, along with other international groups, holding practice runs in case an asteroid would come flying into earth's atmosphere. This type of occurrence is not likely to happen, but NASA says if it were to happen, it would be catastrophic. NASA's Planetary Defense Coordination Office (PDCO), the European Space Agency's Space Situational Awareness-NEO Segment, and the International Asteroid Warning Network (IAWN), are all agencies participating in this exercise. Scientist across the world will gather and discuss a fictional scenario in which an asteroid is making its way towards Earth. NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory’s Center for NEO Studies developed this realistic idea. These drills help the planetary defense community to get an understanding of what other people, with different perspectives and views, are thinking. NASA also believes this will help develop more effective communications with the world’s governments. The continuous research over asteroids, comets, and NEO makes NASA have more exact impact locations, effects, orbital motion patterns, and more accurate predictions.

This article published by Michelle Lou and AJ Willingham, CNN, was created Friday, just four days before NASA is holding another international drill for Earth’s protection. I had no prior knowledge about this form of exercise created by NASA, nor did I have any idea there were organizations specifically developed for our Earths defense to extraterrestrial objects. I’m really glad I fell upon this though because if not I would have never known that we would even prepare, or try to prevent, something like this from happening. This article, for some reason, makes me think of the moon landing, and how legendary Neil Armstrong’s first steps on the moon were. At its time, the moon landing was the U.S. first step towards space investigation and exploration. With this enhancement in space technology and experience, we began to build more understanding for our solar system, ultimately helping us to realize that asteroids hitting Earth is very much possible. This article was written for those interested in Earths preservation, and also anyone like me who happened to fall upon this article on CNN. I believe this brings a more positive influence on the audience because it shows that many international powers are realizing we need a plan in case of an emergency. The purpose and importance of this article is that by studying near-Earth asteroids, scientists are gaining information about asteroids that could change Earth, as well as make predictions on how life began from the creation of planets.
