A Texas couple from Guinea were found guilty of harboring an alien and abuse after their 16-year-old slave from Guinea was able to provide evidence of the situation. She was beaten, forced to work and forced to sleep on the floor until one of the couple's children left for college.
This story caught my eye because it took place in Texas. We always see news stories about other states and it becomes easy to identify them by their problems. So what does this story make us look like? Before this article I was aware that human trafficking was still an issue, but I didn't know it was a problem in the states. This article shows the difference between human trafficking during the Atlantic slave trade and now.
