Cyber Attacks - Paolo Buccino

The department of energy was recently hit by a cyber attack. A lot of personal information from workers was compromised and it is possible that the attack was aimed at gathering more sensitive information. China is a possible suspect for the attacks. The FBI stated that the department is a "known target of Beijing" and that "the sophistication of the attack indicates the involvement of a foreign government."

Cyber attacks are when hackers break into the computer networks of other governments or companies to trespass and steal information, spy, or remotely control operations. It is possible for a terrorist cyber attack to black out the power grid, or shut down the stock exchange, for example. It concerns me that threats are sometimes no longer tangible.

  1. With the United States economy being in the weak condition it is right now, it concerns me that things like this "cyper attack" could lead to a very large war, or change in world powers.
