Loyal Dog Tries to Save Owner in House Fire is Recovering- Lauren Kuehmeier, Period 2

 
      A courageous dog named Carmen fought to save her owner's life in a house fire, who did not survive,  now suffering from injuries caused by fire. Upon hearing of the dogs heroic efforts, fans have donated  over twenty- eight thousand dollars towards a speedy recovery.  The family has put all the money towards physical therapy for Carmen and lung rehabilitation due to excess smoke inhalation. Improvements in recovery include Carmen being conscious and alert, working towards standing, being taken off a ventilator and a gain in energy.

    Carmen was found trying to shelter her owner in the Cincinnati basement where she refused to leave Ledford's side as smoke and fire piled up. The fire sadly took Ledford's life but Carmen's efforts have not gone unnoticed. Her recovery will be slow but extremely possible thanks to the kind donations of her fans.
