Winter Weather Scare by Madeline Ibarra Period 2

Recent winter weather reports have caused difficulties for many across the nation. The Northeastern part of the country has had the worst of it, but the bad conditions stretch as far south as Texas. As many as 23 people have been killed in the past couple of days due to the icy conditions. In Nashville, Tennessee, citizens have not been able to get to needed supplies or medical attention that they require. 18 of the 23 recorded deaths in the past couple of days have been from Tennessee. Down power lines because of ice have caused house fires to break out, frozen roads prevent people from transporting supplies, and below zero temperatures put those outside for extended periods of time in danger of hypothermia. Conditions show no sign of letting up until later this week.

It seems that there is not a place in the country right now that you can escape the winter weather from. Here in Texas, it is like we are seeing the winter conditions that we expected over a month ago. The constant fluctuation in weather type and temperature is causing many illnesses to pop up and affect many.  As true southern residents, we are more likely to be negatively impacted by the ice and the conditions that are caused from it.

  1. The earths environment and condition largely impact history. During FDR's administration FDR created programs that would use the environment in a different way - hydroelectric power.
