The Potential for 'Megadroughts' is Steadily Increasing by Corran Nolan

NASA has released predictions which talk about the effects that our Greenhouse Emissions will have on the environment, especially droughts. They say that  if we keep emmitting how we are emitting the Western US will experience droughts the likes of which we have never seen before. The last time anything close to this happened was the Dust Bowl of the 1930's - a drought that lasted 10 years. The 'megadroughts' that NASA is predicting could last two to three time that, since moisture is baked out of the school feet deep. These claims are backed up by mountains of facts and evidence put through a supercomputer to create predictions using lots of different variables taken into account.
This article is important because it highlights one of the worst factors contributing to the Great Depression: the Dust Bowl, the horrible ten-year drought that sent many people migrating East to get away from the apocalyptic dust storms that swept the area. By the end of this century, conditions like that could become commonplace in the US, exacerbating any monetary issues that may come up then.

  2. Not only would a drought be devastating economically, but also environmentally. When one part of the Earth goes bad it affects alot of other places as well since everything is connected.
