War Debate Looms Congress - Olivia Lambert 3rd Period

Upon previous Sunday talk shows, Barack Obama has requested for the war authority to fight the ISIS. Recently, Washington has been wanting to create a new Authorization for the use of Military Force that would make the fight against the ISIS more definite. Unfortunately, it has been hard for Congress to fully make this fight possible. Obama gave a draft of his request to Congress this week and hopes to hear back soon because an issue this important cannot be delayed.

President Barack Obama is doing everything he can to make peace but in order to do so he has to put up a fight against the ISIS. Other presidents in the past have gone about things a little differently but every president wants the same for their country which is freedom, opportunity, and equality. In the past such as the roaring 20's, presidents like Wilson wanted to create peace so much that when he was running for president he was overlooked because of how reserved and peaceful he was. Now our country has a more direct leader who is willing to take more risks that lead to peace in the end.

  1. I think it's important to be proactive in such things, but we also need to watch where we step or we may create more issues, just as we did with the Red Scare and Palmer Raids. Elizabeth Muscari p6

  2. Yes, bolder presidents tend to get recognized but I don't think now is a good point in history to do anything too bold that could lead us into was.
