Last weekend, a scorpion was found on an Alaska Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Oregon. The flight returned to LA when a woman reported that she was stung by an "eight-legged animal." Medical personnel treated the woman who had been stung on the arm by the scorpion. The woman declined any additional medical attention. Airline officials reported that it isn't clear how the scorpion got on the plane in the first place; however, the plane originated from Los Cabos, Mexico which is most likely the best explanation. The flight arrived in Oregon later that day despite the incident.
Joe Sutton wrote this article for CNN on February 15th. Before reading this article, I hadn't heard of such a strange event occurring. It's rather odd that the scorpion made it on the flight and wasn't noticed until the plane departed from LA. The airline didn't state how long the plane had been out of Los Cabos, so it's unknown how long the scorpion was on the plane. I'm glad that the woman was treated and find the event as a whole very peculiar.

This is so odd. It makes me wonder if the safety procedures were followed, which also causes me to be concerned. Elizabeth Muscari p6

Maybe the scorpion crawled in somehow or was stuck in someone's luggage?
