      22 year old Sophie Pointon has received 16 months in jail for falsely accusing a taxi driver of rape. Pointon told police officers that she had been sexually assaulted in the back of a cab that she had been picked up in. She reported this to the officers on April 22 of last year and still continued to lie by signing a statement giving the account on the attack. Once the taxi driver was tracked down, he was held in custody for 6 hours and wasn't allowed to work for a month based on Pointon's accusations. The driver recalled Pointon being drunk and offering him a kebab-soaked tenner, once he refused it, she threw a ten pound at him. He did accept the ten pounds because it was covered in the oil from the kebab and once he didn't, she became abusive and ran around the car doors. Sophie Pointon was also studying criminology at the time yet, she still broke the law.
