Should states ban abortions when Down syndrome is diagnosed - Adriann Wrice

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/wireStory/states-ban-abortions-syndrome-diagnosed-50057192

I want to start by saying this topic is completely controversial and I completely respect every ones opinion. I hope you all will respect my own opinion as well.
In Ohio a nurse who has a two year old son with down syndrome  is fighting a Ohio bill. According to Julie Carr Smyth and David Crary from associated press, the bill says that doctors who perform abortions on women who know the baby has been diagnosed with Down syndrome will lose their job, be held liable for legal damages, and medical license while the women face no charges. The Ohio bill's chief Senate sponsor, Republican Sen. Frank LaRose, said GOP Started to push the plans harder after hearing about other countries high abortion rate with Down Syndrome babies. There is a strong support from women who decided to go through with the pregnancy and women who decided to not risk their health, but doctors are strongly fighting the measure. States like Indiana and North Dakota have already passed a similar law.
Depending on your political views you may have a different opinion about this subject. In my opinion, I don’t think this law should go through. I think women should have a choice about how they wanna spend their life. Men creating these laws don’t know how it feels or affects their life carrying a baby for 9 months or putting the extra time into a wonderful child with Down syndrome. Many people are not stable enough to love and show the right attention to a Down syndrome child , why bring a child into a world that you are going to constantly neglect. Also , many women don’t want to risk their health. Becoming a parent to a Down syndrome child has a lot of serious health risks for both the mother and child. Personally , I have met plenty of people with Down syndrome and they are better than people without most of the time. If my baby was diagnosed with downsydrome I would keep it, because every child deserves to be loved and I know I would never treat any body different. Many people don’t have the state of mind I have, and they could learn , but they just didn’t realize it. This story was written to inform us citizens about the laws that are being passed that people should be aware of. This article is very important to me because women need to have higher voices in these subject because it 100% affects them and not the men creating the laws. The fact that sometimes they don’t even include direct facts from women who went through these situations is mind boggling. This is sort of like the time Britain taxed the colonies without representation, expect men are creating rules for women without women representation. I do believe that the abortion is the women’s choice.

  1. I definitely agree with you. Men shouldn't have the power to dictate women's reproductive rights.

  2. I think that if a woman wants an abortion she can should have one. we don't always know how or from whom she got pregnant from, but it is her business if she wants to not have a baby or not.
