Hurricane Maria, a category 4 storm, recently ravaged the island of Puerto Rico, leaving the island without power, little fresh water, and minimal communications. It appeared that Trump knew what he was doing but that quickly changed as he became increasing silent on the situation and Puerto Ricans struggled more and more. To add insult to injury, Trump and many other administration members went to his Golf Resort rather than address the people, as well as spreading lies saying everything was "going fine".
Although I cannot relate to the struggling of being without food and fresh water, I, from my petty teenage ways, can understand the thought of being neglected in a time of need. I had already knew that Puerto Rico had been heavily devastated by Maria, but I was unaware that our President, who had promised supplies and aid previously, was neglecting a country that needed our aid so badly. I can compare this to the cruel treatment of the Native Americans, and how after how they helped the first settlers, they were not accepted, or were not aided when they had English-brought diseases, eventually leading to their eradication
Our current president running from his problems is just like Bush going into hiding after 9/11. These presidents dont want to take responsibility and help their country. Its just so saddening to see.
