Miles Shickman

After the hurricane that hit Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, disaster relief efforts have been a top priority of the parts of our government that weren't distracted by being upset at peaceful protests. It has gotten to the point that they are forbidding government lawmakers from visiting them using government aircraft, so as not to get in the way of relief efforts. This has disgruntled many senators, as it stops them from gaining publicity from their visits. Some are still going on commercial flights, but many have cancelled their trips entirely. I think this shows who actually cares and who just wanted pictures of them caring.

  1. I agree and disagree with you when you say that it shows who actually cares and who just wanted pictures of them caring. I agree with this because if someone really cares and want to help, they would be fine leaving out the fame/publicity. I disagree with that because maybe someone who does care might not want to arrive with an angry protest right in front of them. Maybe be they are just trying to play it safe. They could also be helping in another way to take the spot of them not being there.
