Restaurant in S.Carolina banns N.F.L. until protest ends By:Thalia Wallace

In Greenville, South Carolina A restaurant (owner) says he won't show NFL games on television until all players stand during the performance of  the national anthem.    David McCraw (Owner) of the "Palmetto" Restaurant and "Ale House" in Greenville said that on Sunday he would no longer show NFL games after players began kneeling during the anthem. McCraw said he would show games again once all players pay respect to the American flag and the country. His actions occurred only days after President Trump said last week that any NFL players who kneel during the anthem should be fired. That in return, prompted more players to kneel during Sunday night games. Other players stood and locked arms with teammates or stayed behind  in the locker rooms until after the anthem was played.

(feedback):I feel as if though the players shouldn't be punished for protesting against the inequalities  and injustices that have been occurring in america recently, in fact, it is a direct violation to the 1st amendment which states we as citizens have the freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the right to peaceful assembly  . So how is that by them exercising these rights that our founding fathers so graciously extended to us makes it okay to fire them? If anything,I applaud them for being courageous and taking a stand for what is right. It maybe easier to do the good thing , but these men are brave enough to do the right thing.

  1. I agree but also disagree, yes they do have the right to express free speech but if it is causing enough violence them maybe its doing more harm than good, not saying that it has caused riots but if it happens than maybe it is unnecessary.

  2. I feel this should fall under the category of "peaceful protest" and those who choose to engage in an act of protest, not including violence or destruction of property, should not be harmed, gassed, discriminated against, etc. I also feel that(quote unquote) "Not honoring the Country" should not be held against you as expressing yourself and standing by what you believe should be the American way as it is how we gained independence.-David Bagley

  3. At school, how many of us actually stand and say the pledge of allegiance? How many of us have read the 2nd part of the Star Spangled Banner? that second part is a whole thing about how black people aren't Americans and just slaves. So remember when these NFL players are kneeling during the national anthem is because America doesn't have equal right for EVERYBODY and that is a problem.
