US Military to Deploy USNS Comfort for Disaster Relief in Puerto Rico - Sam Romine

The US military is planning to deploy the USNS Comfort to help with the situation in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. The Comfort is a “seagoing medical treatment facility,” which will provide medical assistance while Puerto Rican officials focus on restoring power to other medical facilities.

The authors of this article are Barbara Starr, Zachary Cohen, and Ryan Browne from CNN politics, and the article was published the evening of September 26th. This means the information is very recent and most likely very reliable. Pertaining to the subject of this hurricane season and the disaster relief going on all over America, my prior knowledge is relatively small. I know that Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma struck weeks ago and inflicted massive damage on Texas and Florida, but I have not read about the assistance that is being given to the victims of these natural disasters. This article was written for people looking to stay up to date on the situation in Puerto Rico, but readers also might be interested in the president’s response to the events going on in Central America. The article was written to inform people on the situation in Puerto Rico and how it’s citizens are faring after Hurricane Maria. This information of the public is important so people are encouraged to donate to disaster relief and help victims of Maria get back on their feet, and this article is very similar to what has happened the past few weeks with Irma and Harvey, and the disaster relief going on in Texas, but the relief has never been of this magnitude or cost.

  2. Well, it's good that they're getting some help finally. However, I think this will be like Katrina all over again, it'll take years to get everything back to normal

  3. I think it's great that the U.S. Navy and air force are lending a helping hand to Puerto Rico in its time of need.
