Current Events: North Korea Accuses Trump of Declaring War
This weekend, Donald Trump tweeted that “North Korea won't be around for much longer” and North Korea’s Foreign Minister, Ri Yong Ho accused him of declaring war. Since they believe we have declared war on them, they have stated that they will shoot down U.S. strategic bombers at any time, even when they are not within North Korean borders. The White House press secretary stated that we have definitely not declared war on North Korea, and that the idea of that is simply absurd.

Somebody seriously needs to take away Donald Trump’s phone because his tweets are very immature and incredibly unpresidential. He referred to Kim Jong Un as “Little Rocket Man” and I am seriously confused as to how this man came into office. North Korean officials have stated that war with the U.S. is indefinite and even though conflicts with North Korea need to be handled, Donald Trump is not doing it the right way. The Cuban Missile Crisis had similar circumstances and that was handled without anybody getting hurt, but I am not sure if that will be the case this time around.

  1. This is a very scary situation that America is being put in, and it's just getting worse due to our ignorant "leader".

  2. I agree. This situation is getting out of hand and needs to stop. If our leaders would realize what is happening they could do something about it but it seems that they haven't yet.

  3. Trump acts like an immature child just throwing around insults and tweeting senseless things. If he keeps acting like this, there's no telling how much worse this situation will get.

  4. The scariest part of this, to me, is that KJU is framing this as an American provocation, even an act of war, which is frightening as the US's most important ally in a possible fight against NK is China, which has said it will not support the US unless it is NK that attacks first; therefore, by playing this as an american attempt to incite conflict, Kim has made it easier to block us from an alliance with China in the future.

    1. Do you think that North Korean rulership is what's really blocking us from potential economic or military alliance in the future with China? Furthermore, I personally am doubtful to believe that the Chinese government would try to play this as the United States inciting war, even if Kim is playing this American hostility as a declaration of war.

  5. I think that it is important to stop North Korea's ruthless dictator, but try to stop an all out war with North Korea. I wonder how the results of a possible war could affect the world.

This is very scary considering The power we may sometimes underestimate North Korea has. Hopefully our president takes the best precautions to protect this country.

  7. Im really concerned for us as a country. Trump is too worried on who stands and who kneels instead of worrying about the safety of us.This is unfair to the U.S. due to the fact that we can't defend ourselves from Korea.

  8. I kind of thought that this would happen, knowing the ticking time bomb in office.

  9. This is pretty scary, especially considering these two are the equivalent of children when it comes to making decisions vs acting like leaders of countries.
