An Albuquerque Police Officer was going 20 miles over the speed limit to report to a grocery store where a man was threatening people with a machete when he hit a car with three people in it. The crash ended up killing the six-year-old Joel Anthony Suina. His nine-year-old sister, Ariana, was left with a collapsed lung, spinal injuries, two pelvic fractures, a head injury, and more. The officer, McDonnell, was taken to the hospital for a broken femur. Their mother, Antoinette Suina, said she didn't see the policeman's car coming, even though his emergency lights and siren were on. McDonnell was going 78-80 mph in a 40mph lane(for an emergency), and his cruiser hit the Suina's car at 67 mph. According to McDonnell's car computer report, he braked and tried to steer away before the impact. McDonnell most likely isn't going to be charged, as both his and the Suina's lights were green. At last check, the department said he was on administrative leave.
This article was written by Chris McKee on September 22nd and wrote this to inform the public about the officer and Suina family. This can definitely open people's eyes to staying alert while driving, or else tragedies like this can happen. My heart goes out to the Suina family as I can't imagine the feeling of loss they must have.

This story is sad and I agree he shouldn’t be charged. This was merely an accident , but it shows that we may need to put more precautions in place so that officers make sure they are known when approaching other vechicles. Sad sad story.
