Mexico has had two earthquakes in the past week. It is absolutely devastating, because they are not only just earthquakes, but they are all very high magnitude earthquakes. On Saturday a city called Oaxaca was hit with a 6.1 magnitude mega earthquake.Mexico City, the capital had a 7.1 magnitude earthquake. there was an 8.1 magnitude quake on the South Pacific Coast, close to Chiapas State. All three cities line up in a kind of diagonal, and the damage has been ongoing. More than 300 people died in the Tuesday quake, and close to 100 died in the one on the Southern Pacific Coast. They believe search and rescue will continue for two weeks, if not longer as the buildings are all collapsed and there is a lot of debris.
This relates to APUSH, because like in the thirteen colonies, when something terrible happened like with the British, the whole community came together to help each other. In the end, it didn't matter what colony you live in, or what you believed in. They all worked for the benefit of each other, like they are doing in Mexico right now. This was written to update everyone that is supporting them and or has family that live down there.

I'm glad to hear that people are coming together and supporting one another. It's good they aren't being selfish and instead are reaching out to others.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful to know that in such a dire time like this, people throughout the communities are not forcing one another to fend for themselves, but that they are uniting in order to rebuild the place they all call home.
ReplyDeleteI watched a video on this and how it is ruining people's lives, and I just feel very fortunate that natural disasters have not affected Dallas, but I know that all of the countries need to rally together to help people.
ReplyDeleteI love how you brought these two topics together. Today in Mexico, people are in dire need of help and communities are coming together to help much like the 13 colonies coming together to form a unites front.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing to hear about the people coming together to help rebuild their damaged country. I love your connection of this topic to the British 13 colonies
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that everyone is coming together after the devastation of the hurricanes.
