19 year old, Lukas Carver was stranded in a cave for 58 hours, without food or water. He was screaming endlessly for a small bit of hope that someone would hear him and rescue him. To keep himself alive, he licked the moisture off of the walls to stay alive. He was left behind on a group expedition with some college kids. When his group went down to the cave everything was fine, until on his way out the door was locked, and he was trapped, without food or water. Everyone was unaware of his whereabouts. After 58 hours, help was sent his way and thankfully found him, curled up at the bottom of the cave. "It took me a while to realize where I was," and he scrambled all of the left over energy he had and left that cave! Fortunately, he had no injuries and is perfectly healthy and well! This relates to history back then when new people came to a new territory. Some didn't survive because of all of the hardships. If any of them did survive, they did exactly what Lukas did, salvage off of anything for survival! Everyone was so determined to survive and tried everything to stay alive and well to make a name for themselves. They would do anything for survival back then. Lukas showed amazing bravery and survival skills, just like people back then.

That sounds like a terrifying situation to be in, but as you said, he showed amazing survival skills. I don't know if I would be able to calm myself down enough to think to lick the walls for water! Congrats to Lukas for not dying!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would have been calm in that kind of situation. I agree that he is truly a survivor and am glad he is okay.
DeleteThis is so scary! I find it a little strange that it took so long to find him though. Why didn't his group notice he was gone? However, I definitely agree that he showed amazing survival skills, and did what he had to do in order to survive.
ReplyDeleteThis is scary but I am also impressed with his survival skills, and his perseverance

ReplyDeleteI agree with the strong connection you made back to new world expeditions. This young man must have been extremely terrified, I know I would be. The fact that he was innovative enough to think of licking the walls moister is genius. I am glad that help was sent and that he is still alive.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine what this boy had felt. That is so scary. I agree with your connection to the way the people of the new world must have felt. Both are extremely scary, but turn out for the best.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how braze some people are and the kind of things they can accomplish when their adrenaline is pumping. It is also a miracle that help was sent his way and that he is still alive and well today.
