Ashton Benn- London considers banning Uber

At the moment, London is skeptical on the Uber uses in its country. The country might not grant the necessary licenses that allows Uber drivers to continue what they are doing. The reason is that Uber has been suspected of using illegal software called Greyball. Greyball prevents police from monitoring the app. Uber denies the use of this, but it still has 21 days to appeal the decision. If Uber is neglected the licensing it will affect 40,000 drivers throughout the country. Which could cause a major dip in the economy. Not only that, 3.5 million people in the UK alone use the app. If London does indeed prohibit the app, then that could cause a domino effect for many more nations to follow its lead.
Uber has become a big part of people's lives, including mine. I Uber from the bus stop to places at least once or twice a week. It provides a safer form of transportation for bigger cities or for people who cannot drive. In the streets of Plano, Texas, there aren't many yellow Taxis around to transport people. If Uber used Greyball or not, its beside the point, the issue is the amount of lives that could be altered by banning the app.

  1. I do not think that Uber should be banned. If it is using an illegal software it should stop using it. It should find another way to work their app. I feel that it is as simple as that.

  2. I hope they don't ban uber. It is a very useful source for many people, and also helps people make money. It could create a domino effect that could be avoided.

  3. I do not think that stopping Uber usage in the UK will directly lead to banning Uber in the US, but if there is something going on, then Uber in the US should be checked to make sure that there is nothing illegal going on.

Though uber may pose some issues in the U.K, I don't think banning it is the right thing to do. So many citizens use uber every day to get from place to place and banning it would not be helpful for anyone.
