Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico
http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/24/us/hurricane-maria-us-east-coast/index.html

Puerto Rico has suffered a major loss within in their island, houses ripped away and the gorgeous beaches flooded, all thanks to the damage of Hurricane Maria. There are fears that a dam may break due to this violent storm. The Guajataca Dam has been releasing water because of infrastructure damage following the category five storm. About 70,000 Puerto Ricans that live near the dam were told to evacuate last Friday. The roofs of houses have been ripped off from the hurricane, and the view from Puerto Rico from above is completely different due to the lack of trees. Canovanas Medical Center is one of the only hospitals with power during this horrible time, and they are now running out of fuel for their working generator. At least ten people have died this past week, and four thousand members of the US Army Reserves have been deployed to Puerto Rico to help the civilians during this tragedy. Meantime, US east coast is bracing for high winds as the hurricane travels north.

Hurricane Maria has damaged Puerto Rico and many islands in the Caribbean. Puerto Rico is not a state within our country, but the island is still a dependent territory of the US. This hurricane has made a large impact on our country and we can all come together to help the Puerto Rican/American citizens on the island. There is supposed to be massive migration of citizens effected by the hurricane moving north to the US.

  1. It is very sad that all these hurricanes have done so much damage. I hope the people affected can get back on their feet as soon as possible.
