The name Kardashian means a lot in our society today. It's a brand that an elite group wears for a reason not many can trace, other than being just a really entertaining family. It's easy to just assume the worst of them for their fortune, but really look at their bank account, they're obviously doing something right. Kim and Kanye recently talked about how they try to avoid spoiling their children. They say they don't give gifts, and try to keep them as well rounded as possible. She said her and Kanye spent their anniversary lounging around and went to IHOP. Kim also talked about how before her fateful trip to Paris, where she was robbed, North gave her a plastic jewelry box to protect her. She goes on to say how it's the little things that make life important.
I think it's good for Kim to be making these statements and trying to go back on the reputation she has gained. Inevitably someone like her who has been living a life of excess will naturally want to tone it down. It's a classic narrative, we've seen it before in stars like Lady Gaga and Brittnay Spears. Celebrities have to grow up eventually, they can't keep pulling all these crazy stunts until they're old. This is why Kim is going through, that state of maturing and trying to be an actual person instead of just a personality on television.
The article itself is written pretty objectively, which is surprising since articles dealing with this royal family have a tendency to sound gossip-y. It's important to remember that these stars are just people who happened to be branded with the Kardashian name, and of course they've grown up with a silver spoon at the ready to serve them so there really is no "stars they're just like us" moments, but they try to relate to the public.
Do you believe that celebrities such as the Kardashians can protect themselves by not having a tv show? I feel like it would do good because it would keep their drama just within the family.
ReplyDeleteResponding to the comment above, I feel like although it will limit drama, it will definitely still be exposed as their name has attracted lots of press, and most likely will continue to attract TMZ and the paparazzi, even if the show ends.
ReplyDeleteI agree with soleil because the family very well known all over the world I believe if the show ends they will still make a fortune and people will continue to follow
ReplyDeleteLiam Wise- These peoples' lives are too publicized. Period. Sure, I'm happy Kim's transitioning to a more mindful place and being a lot less lewd but there's just no way Kim can keep this media coverage up forever. One day, she'll either realize she doesn't want it or vice versa. How long are we going to be briefed on personal events this family experiences? Someday it will seem like overkill.
ReplyDeleteThe Kardashians will never be able to relate to the general public given the sense that they are the most widely trending family currently. However it is good that Kim is deciding to be more mature and parent her child to a good strong girl.
