Kim Jong-Un responds in a rather similar way with insults
comparable to Trump. Threats such as “a scared dog barks” and threatening to
tame him with fire. To some it may look as though 2 children on the beach bullies
were arguing over whose sand castle they were going to destroy. This is the
first time though, that North Korea has directly responded to the United
States, and the response shows that Kim sees Donald Trump’s threats as a near
declaration of war, “We will completely destroy North Korea”. Kim responds
accordingly, calling Trump a madman who plays with fire, then threatening to
tame him with fire.
The author, Choe Sang-Hun is a South Korean Journalist, and
given South and North Korea’s relations, his stance seems to be that both are
madmen, barking insults at each other. The article is very recent, and people
knowing the power of nuclear weapons, are frightened. I already knew that, based
on how Trump worded things, he intended it to be taken as an unofficial
declaration of war. This article, I feel was written to bring attention to how
close we are to war and that North Korea should not be poked at with a stick. I
can conclude from the article that if action is not taken to “shut our
president’s mouth” war will almost certainly ensue and the United States will
not get out unscathed. This ties into the Mexican-American war, where taunts
were exchanged heavily, in order to prompt allies and enemies to fight
