JJ Jankovsky - Hurricane Harvey Help

Hurricane Harvey hit Houston hard. Small communities are doing everything they can to start rebuilding their community. 20 trillion gallons of water is flooding communities in Houston.Twenty trillion gallons is equivalent to the biggest waterfall at Niagara Falls. 18 people dead, 50,000 rescued, and 500,000 cars waterlogged. Families everywhere are coming together to help with evacuation, rebuilding, and safety protocols. The article provided by Chris Helman gives us more information on this devastating event.

In our chapters of reading, it talks about tightly-knit communities. That reminds me of whats happening right now, because many different families are helping each other through this horrible event and its bringing everyone closer together because of it. Even people that aren't from Houston are providing and helping, which is bringing everyone close together. Just like it did back in earlier history we are studying right now.

  3. In my post I also connected the culture of Houston in regards to their loss to the tight-knit communities of the New England colonies. The expansion of your idea to the rest of the country fills my heart.

  5. I love the comparison you made showing the amount of water that really overwhelmed the Houston area along with other areas. Equivalent to Niagara Falls. I cant imagine. The people and families are handling this in a great way.

  6. OLIVIA WALL- I think it is amazing to hear snd see that everyone is working together to try to solve this problem, and I love how you put into perspective how much water really flooded, 20 trillion gallons, the same amount as Niagara Falls. I agree, they ar being very strong and coming together as a whole.

  7. It is so great to hear how people can actually depend on one another in the time of a crisis. This kind of mentality will help shape and guide future generations.
