It's no secret to most of the world that climate change is real and causing major effects in our current environment. Recent changes in the continent of Antarctica are worrying scientists for our future. Last January, scientists found that a strip of the West Antarctic Ice sheet two times the size of California was melting. The cause of this is directly linked to an El Nino Effect, something that rarely bothers the Arctic areas. This mixed with unusually rainfall in the desert of Antarctica, may cause dramatic and rapid changes in our sea level within the next 100 years.
An increase in global warming can be seen within the years of the Industrial Revolution, when our society became primarily reliant on the use of nonrenewable energy and fossil fuels. The El Nino Effect has been seen all throughout history starting weakly in the 50s and strengthening its effect in recent years. This CNN article, written by AJ Willingham on August 20th, provides recent up-to-date information allowing the reader to update their previous knowledge on similar events. The informative information enclosed has a slight effect on the audience, hoping they will change some of their ways to help our world. There is no way to turn back time and change the harm we have done to our environment, but there are ways now to patch up the wounds we have caused and slow the demise of our world.

This goes to show how we need to take care of our environment better and keep it healthy for decades to come.
ReplyDeleteEl Nino is also the reason that hurricanes (like Hurricane Irma) and tropical storms are becoming more severe. It's crazy how climate change is affecting weather patterns and the fate of entire continents, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI wrote my post about how the permafrost is melting. it releases carbon dioxide and methane when melted. Its just an endless cycle of global warming
ReplyDeleteIt's very surprising to me that some people still don't believe that climate change is real, when there is so much clear-cut evidence such as this article. Our country and the entire world won't be able to solve this problem until every person is educated on the issue.
