Kathryn Hine 9/3/17 Current Events

A British bomb from World War II was found underneath the city of Frankfurt in Germany on Tuesday. The bomb was discovered during construction work, and was the cause of a 60,000 person evacuation that took place early this morning. The Frankfurt police believe that the bomb is not a threat to the public, but they needed to evacuate as a precaution.

I think that this would be a very scary situation to be in, because although the people defusing the bomb are highly trained professionals, accidents can still happen.

Ever since WWII ended, bombs and mines have been found every few years all over Europe. This was, for a while, a fairly common occurrence in France, and more specifically, the beaches on which the D-Day operations took place. Many people have been wounded or killed by  undetonated mines while on those beaches.

  1. I never knew that bombs and mines have been found since WW2. It's scary to think about since like you said accidents happen. I hope nothing bad happens.
