Trump urges other nations to join against North korea and
other “threats” in his strong language. He criticizes the United Nations
heavily, calling it a “club for people to get together, and have a good time.
His criticisms mainly revolve around minimal “action being taken, though the
action he may desire is very nationalistic.
The author. Scott Horsley, is a former news
reporter, and current day reporter, whose main focus is on the trump
administration’s policies and politics. The way the article is written, he
brings light to his criticisms, and seems not to agree with his nationalistic
ideas, as quotes and evidence he uses contradicts Donal Trump’s critiques. I
already knew of Donald trump’s speech, and near war-declaring statements, but
this shows me how much he values the U.N. (very
little). This article was probably written for people
who do not really agree with Donald’s idealisms, but need some more insight,
the article’s purpose being such. I think that the article’s main purpose is to
highlight trump’s problematic ideals on foreign nations , and the United
Nations. The article is relevant as it further lessens what people think of
Donald, even further. I personally tie this to Thomas Paine’s “Common sense” in
the way it uses strong language to encourage people to arms, as well as
boasting of one’s power.
