Massachusetts teen dies of Progeria - Emily Gray 5th period

On January 10, 2014, Sam Berns, a Massachusetts teen with a rare aging disease called progeria died at the age of 17. Children with this rare disease live on average 13 years. Sam was the subject of an HBO documentary which focused on Robert Kraft and the New England Patriots. The at riots gave Sam a moment of silence before their game.

This article was written by Ross Kerber, Yahoo! News. It was written on January 11. This article was written to the general public to inform people of the rare aging disease, progeria. When I first read this article I didn't even know there was such a thing like this. This scared me and made me feel sad for the people who suffer this. I hope Sam Berns will have a good after life.

  1. I have seen and heard about people with this rare disease before. It is such a sad situation, but amazing how some people with this can live longer than expected. I hope the best for Sam Berns family.
