A video of Martin Luther King speaking about John F. Kennedy is just now being released. Not was found in a Tennessee attic, and now, 53 years later, it will be shown it the same place where MLK was assassinated. In the video he talks about how Kennedy played a role in securing his release from prison when he was sentenced to four months of hard labor for a traffic violation. Kennedy made a call to King's wife, then he made efforts to get him released (which he was a day later). This video is said to be chilling because it is one of the only times King is seen speaking in a relaxed state (more of a conversation than a speech).
This article caught my attention because I recently saw the movie Parkland, and now I'm really interested in JFK. This is an amazing connection between these two great leaders who were sadly both assassinated way before their time. Martin Luther King spoke of non violence and acceptance, and Kennedy obviously shared a similar belief which is proven through this connection. It's tragic that one person full of hate has the ability and power to kill someone as influential as MLK and JFK. However, their message continues as proven by the nation's remembrance of them.

It is indeed a fascinating notion to consider what words might tumble from MLK's usually so reverent and righteous mouth in a casual setting. I also enjoy the connection between MLK and JFK. It seems a strange coincedence for two leaders so alike to live at the same time and die in the same manner.

ReplyDeleteI also find it interesting that two famous leaders in our history would be involved in the same areas. I think it's great that this video is going public, I hope to see it myself.
I agree. It will be interesting to see what this video includes!
