Byron Otis-UNC Athletic Educational Fraud

We've known for some time that the University of North Carolina has been creating fake classes in which they've been putting their academically disadvantaged football players. Up until now, the UNC officials have been placing the blame on one man, who has since been put away on fraud charges. Now, one of the deans of the school has come out to say that it was perhaps more than this man who allowed this fraud to take place. The fake classes, with fake grades, are embarrassing to the school, and show an abundance of poor judgement within their faculty and the players especially, for allowing this to take place. I hope that no other schools are doing this in secret.

  1. It's terrible that some colleges would think to do that. They're students there, not just athletes. Academics are just as important.

  2. I find this practice entirely unjust. Clearly a school that creates fake classes for their athletes is not just giving their athletes an unfair pass, but exploiting their talents to gain publicity. It is disservice to the institution of education.

  3. I read about this a couple months ago, and Im happy that they are finding someone who is guilty of it and charging them with whatever they deserve, Hopefully situations like this will put a stop to the rest.

  4. I agree with Claire that academics are just as important and it bothers me that most students try so hard just to get into college and then there are those who just get by.
