#MadonnaSaysN***a
Madonna used the N-word when talking about her son in a post on Instagram, using the hashtag, #disn***a. Madonna later apologized for any offenses she may have caused.
Unfortunately, as much as we try to say that we are in a post-racial society, the true is that we are NOT. It's gonna take some years of healing before the African-American society will be okay with the usage of this word in the Caucasian-American society. Sorry Madonna, you're the Queen of Pop, not the Queen of the world. But at least you apologized.

I completely understand how white people shouldn't say the n word yet but if she's referring to her own son, is that still not acceptable?
ReplyDeleteI feel like the only thing keeping all the separation heated is the media and hate-mongers blowing up things like this. Honestly we all know everybody says the n word these days because of pop culture but if it wasn't used offensively it shouldn't be an issue. Besides, freedom of speech and whatnot as long shes not slandering/libel
ReplyDeleteI dont think the N word is used by everybody, but it is used often. I don't think the word should be used at all, whether by the white or black community. But I will say that I am less uncomfortable when a black person says the word.
DeleteI understand that this was offensive, but really it is in the eyes of whoever saw this commentary (like a heck of a ton). Anyway I wouldn't have found it offensive although I would have though hmm...why is she using this word? I think although our society is getting a little to comfortable with the "n" word, we should all have in the back of our minds the connotation it has, and most of all IF YOU ARE WHITE please be careful when you say this word and who you say it to because after all didn't you make the word up as an insult? So to wrap it up in a nutshell...this word is not to be dealt negatively with by anyone, not even if your black.
ReplyDeleteYou'd think people--especially white celebrities--would get the idea here. But apparently not.
ReplyDeletei get really weirded out when white people say it and avoid the word myself. even with the pretty innocent context i don't think madonna needed to post that on the internet, and i respect her a lot for recognizing that and apologizing
