Summary: Friday
afternoon at South Carolina State University a student was shot and killed on
campus. Police are still on a hunt to find the suspects . Orangeburg County’s
coroner, Samuetta Marshall, identified
the dead student as Brandon Robinson who was 20 years old.
Around 1:30 Friday afternoon campus
police were called to the Andrew Hugine Suites Living and Learning community
and found Robinson injured. The school
of approximately 4000 students was put on lockdown for several hours after the
incident, but a few hours later the restrictions were lifted. The campus
Facebook page still urged people to “remain cautious and report any suspicious
activity to the police. Police reported that eyewitnesses saw 4 suspects
leaving the area after the incident happened.
"He was a very nice young man," said South Carolina State
University President, Thomas Elzey, fighting back tears in a brief statement to
reporters. "And it hurts. It hurts us all." The school counselors were available to
assist grieving students.
Analysis: School
shootings are happening way to frequently. What is the need to go to a school
and shoot people? Just this week there were 3 shooting at Universities that
either killed or injured students. That is just crazy and it’s very sad to hear
that someone would do something like that.
