Madison Ceurter 5th period: Airbus Beluga: Inside the world's strangest-looking plane
In Toulouse, French there is a plane known as the "Beluga," because it resembles to the beluga whale, the Airbus A300-600ST is a strange in appearance but, it plays an important role in carrying other aircrafts. In 1990's there was a plane similar to the Airbus, but it was called the "Supper Guppy," but it was outdated. The Airbus are all able to hold large cargo and heavy aircraft parts. It can also carry the wings of an A340 airliner, but they aren't large enough to transport enough parts for the A380 super jumbo. These were made to fly satellites, helicopters and works of art. The Beluga has been in service for 20 years and they are working to make the Beluga XL next. This is a very unique looking plane and it seems like the U.S. could use something like this too to help move machine parts around. This shows that technology has been developing and growing very quickly through the years, not just in phones and computers, but also in planes and cars.
