Ohio Execution With New Drug Combo by Gloria Jones

Recently in Ohio they executed a man with a new combination of drugs. These drugs caused a drawn out (over 15 minutes) and, what appears as, a painful death. He made several "snorting" type sounds and gasped and convulsed. It had already been said by the man's attorney that this new drug combo would cause a painful death by suffocation, but it was counter-argued that it cannot be known what he will experience from this lethal injection. Europe has stopped allowing the US to use their combination of drugs, so this is why we have been forced to come up with our own.

Now, I have mixed feelings on this. As strongly as I feel no one deserves a miserable death, this man was responsible for the rape and murder of a 22 year old who was 7 months pregnant in 1994. However, since then it appears the family of the woman have reached out to the man and he has apologized. I really cannot say whether or not I agree with this. Honestly, I feel as if it is not for me to have an opinion. There is no way to understand what the family of the woman is going through. If I were in their situation, I wouldn't object to the execution of this man.

I agree with the death penalty, however, executions should abide by the "no cruel and unusual punishment" law in the Constitution. I'm glad he's shown remorse to the family that lost the woman.
