U.S. delegation to Russian Olympics includes gay athletes by Joi Ware

Summary: The US has recently announced that they will be taking openly gay athletes to the next Olympics in Russia and Russia has recently put out an anti-gay law. Tennis legend, Billie Jean King and figure skater, Brian Boitano will be at the opening ceremony on February 7. White House Press Secretary says that they are trying to show that the US is a diverse place. It is the first time in a decade that a high ranking US official wont be at the Olympic Games. Obama finds it offensive that Russia has this policy and looks down upon any harmful treatment toward LGBT.

Analysis: I think this is an awful law to put in motion. After all the world has been through and the change that has occurred Russia wants to come out with this. You can not be tolerant towards it but to create a whole law is completely crazy. I applaud the US for coming out with this and saying theyre sticking with their athletes, although I fear for their safety as the article says anyone in Russia seen holding hands with the same sex or with a rainbow shirt on can be prosecuted. I know the US is also not the only country that will be bringing gays to the Olympics and I agree with the other countries decision too.
