Beloved teen Sam Berns dies at 17 after suffering from rare disease- Jessica Dicker
Sam Berns died this past Friday. He was 17 years old. Sam suffered from a rare disease called progeria, which speeds up the aging process. The New England Patriots held a moment of silence this weekend at their NFL playoff against the Colts, where Sam was supposed to be deemed honorary captain. Robert Kraft, owner of the Patriots, "loved Sam Berns and am richer for having known him. He was a special young man whose inspirational story and positive outlook on life touched my heart."
Sam was nationally known through his HBO documentary "Life According to Sam". He had a positive outlook on life and didn't believe in wasting energy feeling bad for myself. I surround myself with people that I want to be with. And I keep moving forward."
Rest in Peace, Sam.
