victoria rhodes 5th period "america's iron man"

after a commando died by simply kicking in a door in Afghanistan, the military is quickly coming to the realization that men and women are dying way to easily. so the military is now closer than ever to constructing a suit of body armor that will protect blows at a high impact. unlike the hollywood version, this suit armor cant fly though it can solidify on command. its use is geared to give that soldier that goes in first to a compound, which usually has to take  most of the fire power directly,  has more protection to keep that slot from being the death slot.  at this point the only things scientists are working on is making sure that the balance is right in the suit and that the visibility is clear. the last thing a soldier needs is to be killed just because the suit that was supposed to protect him, couldn't stay balanced. it is undetermined how much this suit will cost since it offers so much protection. the scientists were giving the challenge of putting together technology that was already out there but making it into something that is still advanced and ahead of other pieces of armor but still able to be controlled.

its amazing that america is trying to utilize its  resources in formulating something that will protect the people that are out fighting for our safety. those people i believe are truly selfless and definitely deserve something that will make sure as many soldiers come home to their families as possible. never before has something so advanced come out that will be made to be durable and sustain battle. i think that america is new to these kind of innovational movements and is excited because of how new these things are. we see something similar in the industrial revolution where new things could be made and they could be made quickly. both in the american revolution and in this suit of armor, were things that shaped and will shape the nation and change the way that new things are made.

  1. That is cool! I have to admit I am a Marvel fan, so on a surface level I think that is awesome, but on a deeper level...I also think it's awesome.
I can't imagine how it must feel to be worried about your loved one everyday they go to work protecting us, so it makes me happy to see that something like this suit is coming out, hopefully lifting a slight bit of those worries off of their shoulder.

  5. It is amazing that this technology exists, I can't wait for more on what the scientist have done to make this "indestructible" suit and how it will be used in today's society and jobs.

  7. This new innovation is almost reassuring that the ones who sacrifice themselves for our country have a more likely chance of survival.

  8. Matthew Homsher 9th- That is really cool that they're working on more protection for our armed forces. The second step of that is to make it cheap and light weight, while still offering more protection.
