unnecessary tests in the education system. Fernanda Sandoval

President Obama is asking all states to call back all unnecessary academic testing because it consumes too much instructional time within the school day, it also creates a lot of unnecessary stress for anyone in the classroom. he says that standardized testing takes the joy both out of teaching and learning causing to have students not learn as well as they could be. the people administrating the plan says that in their plan they use the word burden 8 times. the federal government although trying hard to remove excess testing can only do so much due to limited central government. President Obama also states that he will make no move to remove the standardized testing put on students grades 3-8 in mathematics and reading, and that grades 10-12 be tested at least once.
I think that excessive testing adds excess stress which can dampen a students learning experience so im glad that we are moving towards less testing, and not just because im a student going through that testing. also i feel like the limited power to the federal government reflects on the time of the war of 1812.

  2. I am very glad to hear this especially as a student who cares a lot about school and my grades! I agree that excessive testing adds more stress, and if we can eliminate the things we don't need, I think we will see many more beneficial results for those in school.
