Processed meat causes cancer, says WHO -Lia Kerkman 6

Earlier this week the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that consuming certain processed meats could possibly cause cancer (carcinogens to the body). In this includes meats such as sausage and ham linked to colon or colorectal cancer. According to the WHO anything that has been smoked, cured, or salted to enhance flavor for preservation falls under a "processed meat".  Almost all meat (pork, beef, chicken, etc.) has nutritional value, but can possibly be classified as "carcinogenic to humans".

There are many statements made in response to this article, a lot of them by meat companies. It just shows that there are two sides to each story/discovery(even). The overall jest of all of the comments is that meat is a very important, necessary,  and nutritional part of ones diet. It feels like every day science is discovering something new that is harmful to us in some way, like everything we do comes with a health risk.

  4. i've been a vegetarian for about two months and I no longer believe that meat is by any means "necessary." It wouldnt surprise me if it did cause cancer. The amount of hormones injected into the meat to make it bigger and less fatty is ridiculous!
