Oklahoma Homecoming Parade

During Oklahoma State University's homecoming parade this past weekend, a drunk driver killed three people and injured many others.  A 25 year old women drove her sedan at a high rate into the end of the parade.  She has been charged with a DUI.  Many people have posted pictures of helicopters landing at the scene for medical help.  One witness said she could see people flying in the air and thought it was part of the parade.  Others were just feet away from the crash.

This is an example to how alcohol can effect our bodies.  You have no control over your body when you drink.  This reminds me of the temperance act in the 19th century.  All the females wanted to moderate the consumption of alcohol or ban the use of it.  In this case it was a female who was drinking, but back then all the women had experienced the effects of drinking by their husbands and therefore wanted it to be stopped.  Back then and even today, alcohol is blamed for many of incidents and crime that occur.

  1. It's as shame that other young people can't understand the affect that alcohol has on their own body and mind. Unfortunately there aren't many easy ways to stop teens from driving under the influence, the best way (I believe) is to have someone with you to stop you from doing something dangerous that you might regret.

  2. This incident just proves that people should always have a designated driver with them or call a cab/uber if they are planning on drinking. Just like the 19th century, people aren't responsible with the amount of alcohol they are intaking and tragic events like these occur.
