"U.S. Senate candidate admits to sacrificing goat, drinking its blood" - Gunnar Ozuna Period 6

Augustus Sol Invictus is a U.S. senate candidate who two years ago, walked from central Florida to the Mojave and spent a week fasting and praying. He participated in a pagan ritual when he returned to his home, in which he killed a goat and drank his blood. The story was forgotten, but was brought back up when he announced his running for senator. He has recently admitted to doing this.

I don't really know what to say to this one. I find it shocking that someone who is running for senator has participated in something like this. I doubt he will get the vote for senator after he admitted to doing this.

  1. I can no doubt agree that this will greatly affect his political polls but then again, I'm not familiar with the sacrificing of goats. Maybe it have him good luck

  2. Make sure to synthesize and relate your article to something in history. Are there any other past senators that have done something like this or similar in eccentricity?

  3. I think that this will definitely affect his chances of being elected. It's a very odd thing to drink a goats blood. I agree with Mrs. Countryman though. How does this relate to history? - Juliet Nelson 9

  4. This is a weird thing to think about. On one hand, why would he do this and does this show how he is as a person and thus a senator? On the other hand, why is this so important. If he is capable of properly representing the people, then this shouldn't be a big deal. Personally, I find this funny. He can't win because he did something that we see as weir or unusual. Most of us do things others find weird. We should just keep that in mind when we judge him.

  5. I think that the fact that he did this is very odd. This said, all religions do things that seem odd to people who are not apart of it. Paganism is a religion just like any other. I think that this person has a right to follow any religion he would like. I wouldnt be so sure that he won't get elected, people in politics do weird things all the time.
