Recently, there was a school shooting in Oregon, U.S. This violent and senseless act is one of many of its kind. In the past thirty years there have been at least seventy two mass shootings, many of which being schools and other similar locations with children. This number, however, does not count the many, almost unumerable shootings that happen almost every day in the U.S., be it homocide, drive-by shootings, or even suicide; the nber of American citizens who die at the muzzle of a gun has grown, and will likely keep growing until something is done about it.
Many people, including President Obama have tried and tried to help prevent these disastrous events by making it harder to purchase and obtain a gun license in America. Many however, balk at this attempt to "stifle their freedom" as the Second Ammendment states that they have the "....right to bear arms", and remain ignorant and stubborn to the effects that such a law or "right" has, making homes, streets, and even schools unsafe for everyone.
One of the aptly dubbed "useless rights" is that of being able to "Open-Carry" their weapons. While this does on occasion prove helpful (for example a robbery, or self defense) many gun holders take this as a luxury right. And, with all do respect, I don't really think citizens should need to carry their large power sniper rifle on their back during their weekly trip to the local grocery store.
It's laws and "rights" like these that make gun access easy for the mentally unstable and ill, creating a huge danger in society for all people.

Also recently a child shot another child with his dads gun. Is this more proof the laws should be changed?
ReplyDeleteTristin Manus 8th----- Someone needs to address this gun control in America because such horrible crimes are being committed with the loosely law. If the restrict this gun control, less violence will be done.
