Reagan Rees Period 5

http://wpo.st/so1f0

11 year old boy charged with murdering 8 year old girl with a gunshot to the chest. The article is not extremely clear, but it seems the 11 year old wanted to see the 8 year olds puppy, but she wouldn't et him, so he went to get his gun. The gun was easily accessed by the child in a closet. It was his dads gun. The girl was taken to the hospital where she later died of her wounds.

This is a rare and shocking event. What could this mean for the future of America's laws? Does it affect the laws? Or should it affect the laws? Are gun licensees the same, would this now change gun laws? Without a doubt there will be some sort of change of authority after this event, however the intensity and specificity of it is unknown.

  1. This story is super sad and reminds me of the huge responsibility I have as a gun owner with small children. I love the questioning in your analysis! But remember to synthesize by relating each current story to the past. In speaking of gun laws, could you discuss the Bill of Rights and the second amendment? Why did the founders feel the need to protect our rights to guns? Did they think of the harm that it would do to the children of the future?

  2. They definetely need to reinforce the gun laws because a lot of people have been taking advantage of it now. It is not safe for the people of our country.

I feel that laws should be enforced with the government and in a house. That father should understand the risks of having weapons in a house with a child. He should have been more responsible in keeping it put up so the child could not get it.
