- Mason Buhl, 16, is charged with attempted murder, committing a felony while armed
- Recently in South Dakota Mason Buhl and his principal had an altercation which led to Mason shooting his principal. Which caused Mason to be charged with Attempt of murder and committing a felony well armed and being charged as an adult. In South Dakota anyone 16 and older committing a crime can lead to the child to being charged as an adult through trial.
Analysis: throughout history we've had many school shootings but not because of teacher or principal or any school personnel's position and over use of their authority. Many of our schools shootings had been taken from many of issues like mental or facing their bullies or even for some issues being due to segregation. This is a very contradicting case for the fact of the right to bear arms and also the right of trial by jury but recently he was charged as an adult without thoroughly being taken through the right by Jerry to depict his case of being charged as an adult or as a minor.

I think it's not all the kids fault in the first place since he shouldn't even have a gun. Due to our gun policies people like him are ending up with deadly weapons.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it is a very touchy subject... it's hard: do we blame the kid for his actions? Or do we blame the government for their harshness towards a possibly accidental crime? Or still yet, do we blame the government for being too lose with the laws concerning guns, leading to kids like him shooting principals because they could have otherwise not have had the gun in the first place?
ReplyDeleteIt makes me wonder if this was a case of blackout/heat of the moment rage, or if maybe he does have a slightly unstable mental condition. Yes the source of where he got the gun should take some responsibility and be accountable for their actions. -Lia K 6
ReplyDeleteIt concerns me that this boy was able to first of all bring a gun to school, second of all shoot an actual person. I think that this school will need to have more security, and that this boy should be taken to the psychiatrist, to see if he has any mental health issues
