Sea lions are really hungry by Vern Blossfeld

Summary: For the third year in a row, sea lion pups are turning up on California beaches starving. Rescuers to the scene found sea lions in flowerpots, beneath cars, and resting on the porches of resorts. Nearly 500 have been taken in by state rehabilitation centers since January 1st, a number a lot higher than usual. The reason behind this is still a mystery, and numbers suggest that 2015 could be a lot worse than the two previous years.
Analysis: This could be really dangerous for the sea lion population! The fact that they're coming in to human populated areas is especially concerning. Hopefully researchers can figure out what the problem is so that the sea lion population survives. This relates to history through the constant extinction of animal species thanks to problems like the mysterious(?) problem facing the sea lions on California's coast today.

  1. It is weird to think about the extinction of animals we have come to know so much about. The mystery behind this Sea Lion catastrophe is quite unusual, and I hope that researchers will be able to find the root of the problem in the near future, so the balance of the current ecosystem can remain without harm.

  2. It is very unfortunate that pups are found in such a state. I wonder why the reasoning behind these appearances hasn't been discovered yet.

  3. This is so sad, we need to de-industrialize. Tear down all the buildings and live in mud huts like the olden days. There's a direct relationship between our 'evolvement' and every other species on the planets extinction.

    1. De-industrilization wont help. The damage is done. You cant put hair back once its cut. The only chance for them is to help and clean up oceans and waterways as best as we can. Bernadette NEgrete

We defiantly need to put more resources and funds towards the protection of not just these animals but all animals! I hate to see they're population going down so quick. I really hope we can find a way to save these guys!
