On October 13, the Dutch Safety Board will release the final report regarding the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight 17 last year. In July 2014, the plane was shot down over (Russian-backed) rebel territory in Ukraine, killing nearly 300 people. Since then there has been a lot of controversy over who was responsible, with Ukraine and the West blaming the rebels, and Russia blaming Ukraine. The report will not make assumptions or conclude who perpetrated the act, however it has been confirmed that the plane was shot down by a Russian-made missile. It's been speculated that the rebels couldn't operate these missiles themselves, and required the assistance of former/current Russian military members.
Personally, I believe Russia has a hand in the Ukraine crisis, and they're doing a bad job of covering it up. Having watched several of their propaganda films relating to the crisis and other "NATO coups," it's clear that they're an active participant. Them showing charred corpses and claiming they were slaughtered by the Ukrainian government, when the source of the footage was actually Syria. (There's lots of these little hiccups- you can search for them.)
Having followed the crisis myself, it's also clear that history seems to be repeating itself. Not to mention that Russia has a bad history when it comes to documenting history.
