Luz Lopez(4th period)-How a 3-D printer changed a 4-year-old's heart and life

Mia Gonzalez had trouble breathing every once in a while, had multiple colds, and pneumonia. She couldn't really do anything for her first 3 and a half years of life. Her parents just thought it was a severe case of asthma but they were wrong. She had a malformation in her aorta, which is the vessel that pumps blood from the heart. The doctor had trouble thinking of a way to help her heart, until a 3-D printer came to the hospital. The 3-D printer printed out a full model of mia's heart. Instead of making an incision on her left side for this type of heart defect, he should cut into mia's chest from the right.
I find it wonderful and exciting from how far technology's come to be. It's amazing how medicine is improving and how this generations technology is helping doctors and nurses help patients.

  1. Humans have evolved so much and it's crazy to think about how advanced we are when it comes to technology. We are so advanced that technology can make the world a better place and patients can receive much better treatment.
