Fatal TSU shooting Tymie Jadagu 6th P

post:2 held in Texas Southern University shooting - CNN.com
Summary: On Friday, 1 person was shot at a Texas State University student housing apartment complex. The lockdown was issued around 11:30 and was not lifted till about 2:30 am. They have detained 2 suspects and are looking for a third. This is the 3rd school shooting to happen in the past week at a university campus.
Analysis: With all the gun violence, and mass shooting that have occurred lately, we are forced to take a look first and foremostly the gun safety laws we have out in place, and next, if we are to consider more gun control, the constitutionality of it. When the 2nd amendment was made, it was in regards to having a well regulated militia to defend the colonial towns after the revolutionary war. Now, the NRA, and pro-gun rights advocates, have seemed to completely forget about the first part of the amendment, and only adhere to the part that gives almost every citizen the right to own a gun. However recent trends have shown that not everyone is fit to own a gun, and if we do not quickly act upon and change our laws, mass shootings like this will keep occurring. This is also a debate not only for the rights of people to bear arms, but also how loosely we base the constitution, and how we allow american citizens to interpret it, just like the case of Marbury vs. Madison during the times of the federalist and the democratic republican parties. Hopefully out nation will come to a peaceful compromise, that will allow for the excerscise of rights as well as the protection of citizens.

  1. Every country that has enacted gun control laws has seen a drastic decrease in gun violence, whether in one-on-one crime situations or mass shootings like this one at TSU (Australia hasn't had a massacre since 1996). How many more tragedies will occur until our government takes action?

  2. The first gun shooting should have been a warning to all schools! Gun control needs to be more strict and event's like this wouldn't be happening! There have been way too many university shoots than there should be.
